My children love emojis so much that it was the theme for my son’s recent birthday party (find out more about our emoji birthday party here). So I thought it would be fun to incorporate it into our Easter decorations. We love Easter – with warmer weather, longer days and the promise of chocolate – what’s not to love!
DIY Emoji Easter eggs for kids
You will need:
box of ceramic Easter eggs from Hobbycraft.
Chalkola Chalk Pens
Pinty Plus Chalk Paint Spray in Mustard
How to make DIY Emoji Easter eggs for kids:
There were four ceramic eggs in the box, all with a handy little tag for hanging. The eggs were white so the first thing I did was paint them yellow using Pinty Plus Chalk Paint Spray in Mustard. I used this colour on our Easter crate and it’s really pretty.
I hung them from the washing line and sprayed them.
This gave them a really subtle colour and they were touch dry in just 20 minutes.
Then it was time to decorate the eggs. I used Chalkola Chalk Pens which are quite quick and easy to use, you can see an earlier make using them here.
I picked our favourite emojis and drew them on. They look pretty cute in an egg box but I can also thread the loop and hang them from our seasonal tree.
There were only 4 eggs in the box which restricted me slightly to which emojis I made. My son really wants to make some too so I think I might try spray painting some polystyrene eggs and seeing if the Chalkola pens would work on those too.
