Recipe for chocolate Easter bark

How to make chocolate Easter bark {recipe}

Posted on April 7, 2017April 8, 2017 by jenny

I’ve wanted to try making our own chocolate bark for ages and finally got round to it whilst the children were on holiday. It was actually really simple with endless possibilities for different seasons and flavours. A basic chocolate bark is a really simple sheet of melted, tempered chocolate, usually covered with nuts, dried fruit or sweets. You can make it look pretty professional if you mix two types of chocolate, such as dark and white, and giving it a marbled effect. And in case you’re wondering, it’s called bark because it looks a little like the texture of a tree.

Ingredients for chocolate Easter bark

Ingredients fro make chocolate Easter bark

2 x bars of dark chocolate
1 bar of white chocolate
Sprinkles
Mini eggs
Mini marshmallows
3 x Lindt Bunny Paw
Baking parchment
Baking tray

I should mention I made this with the help of my husband. Two hands definitely make this easier as one person can be stirring the melting chocolate, making sure it doesn’t ruin. The first step is to break the chocolate into pieces and melt each in a separate bowl over boiling water.

Line a shallow baking tray with baking parchment and pour the dark chocolate over it. Spread it with a palette knife or spatula until the baking tray is evenly covered.

Pour the white chocolate over the dark and use a cocktail stock or skewer to marble the two together.

Decorate your chocolate bark! I used some larger Lindt Bunny Paws as well as handfuls of sprinkles, mini marshmallows, mini chocolate eggs, chocolate stars – basically anything I could find in my baking cupboard.

Then set aside to cool and solidify again, which takes about 2 hours. Once cooled, remove the baking parchment and cut into chunks.

Wrap in more baking parchment, tie with twine and give as an Easter gift. Or if you’re in my family, enjoy over a game of Monopoly!
