Time capsule baubles for kids {Chalkola review}

Posted on November 19, 2016October 4, 2021 by jenny

We have a really great craft to share with you today. My children are growing up far too quickly so I thought it was about time to capture a moment in their lives. This was one of those fun crafts which we squeezed in after school and also got to use some great chalk pens from Chalkola.

How to make time capsule baubles for kids

First of all I asked my children 10 quick questions. The idea was to find out a little about them, the kind of thing it would be funny to look back on in 5 or 10 years.

The questions I asked were:
Name and age
Today’s date
Name of best friend
Favourite book/bed time story
Favourite cuddly
Favourite tv programme
Favourite computer game
Favourite dinner
What I want for Christmas
What I want to be when I grow up

As the children answered the questions I wrote their answers down on a piece of paper. Then we folded them up and placed them inside the clear bauble.

I used the Chalkola chalk markers to write the year and my child’s name on the bauble. The chalkboard pens are really easy to use and are great for non-porous surfaces like chalkboards, whiteboards, glass, plastic and windows.

They are so simple to use that you just shake them for a minute them gently press down the nib on a surface. You can see the ink flow and then they are ready to use. If you make a mistake, as I did, you can wipe the ink away with a wet wipe and start again.

We’ll be putting these time capsule baubles on our tree next month and the children are under strict instructions that we won’t be opening them for at least 5 years. Hopefully this will be a new tradition we can do every year.

These chalk pens will get so much use at home and we can’t wait to use them again. The range of colours is perfect for general crafting. You can find the chalk markers on Amazon: Chalkola pack of 10 neon colour markers with a 6 mm bullet tip or the Chalkola pack of 8 Earth colour markers with 6 mm bullet tip.

Chalkola have kindly offered my readers a very generous 20% discount on all Chalkola products. Simply use the discount code 20OFFSTR at checkout.

Disclosure – I was sent these products to review.
