d20 Watford Board Game Cafe

Last summer we discovered our first board game cafe, a fun mixture of a cafe where you can choose from hundreds of board games to play. Our first visit was to the Snacks and Ladders Board Game Cafe on the Isle of Wight and we’ve been on the look out for something nearer to us ever since. Thankfully we discovered the d20 Watford Board Game Cafe and visited for our sons’ birthday.

The d20 Watford Board Game Cafe is on Queen’s Road in Watford. We booked a table but you can just turn up without booking. Once you start playing a game there is a £2.00 charge that is applied per person, per hour.

There are over 900  board games to choose from in the categories; Party, Trivia, Light Strategy, Adult, Card and Dice, Kids and Family, Strategy, 2-Player, Adventure and Heavy Strategy. Everything is carefully labelled and organised so you can search by category and know where to put the game back when you’ve finished.

We didn’t know where to start so asked for a recommendation to start us off. We were given King of Tokyo as a good family game and it didn’t take long to learn the rules and play the game.

Next up was I’ve Got a Bad Feeling About This!, a Star Wars game from Hasbro that my son chose. This was followed by The Logo Board Game which I’ve wanted to play for ages.

Our final game was the Harry Potter version of Dobble. We love Dobble and this was quick and easy to play (and the kids wanted me to buy them a copy of their own!).

We thought the £2.00 charge that is applied per person, per hour, was reasonable. We ordered lunch and milkshakes and drinks throughout the afternoon which were good. We were able to take our dog too, who sat happily under the table munching dog biscuits whilst we played.
