It’s so good to have a variety of activities to offer the children when they’ve finished their home learning. We are working hard to get everything finished by lunch time so we can enjoy our afternoons together. Our dining room table is always piled high with toys, but they always have a learning slant! We were recently gifted something from the new So Sand DIY range to try out at home. Read on for our review! So Sand DIY Sensory Studio It’s time to get creative and take your imagination to another level. Thanks to So Sand DIY, it’s now…

With an inquisitive 8 year old you probably won’t be surprised that she loves to make and play with slime. I think slime is a great STEM toy (one which utilises science, technology, engineering and mathematics)Â and it seems to appeal to her inner scientist! We were recently offered the new So Slime Tie-Dye kit and I couldn’t wait to see what she thought of it. She has a few of the So Slime kits and they are great value fun for kids! So Slime Tie-Dye review The So Slime Tie-Dye kit contained 3 clear transparent slimes, 3 bottles of colour,…

We were recently sent a Plane Launcher kit, one of the new kits from Build Your Own who make sustainable toys with less plastic. My children are of an age when they really want toys which can be used again and again. They love a toy which challenges them, and the Plane Launcher kit has certainly done just that! Build Your Own Plane Launcher Kit The Build Your Own Plane Launcher is suitable for children (and adults!) aged 8 and up. It uses visual perception and thinking skills and makes a great STEM toy (one which utilises science, technology, engineering…

We’ve had a lovely three-day weekend. We enjoyed walks with the puppy, homemade cake and playing. I have to say weekends are so much easier than trying to homeschool my youngest right now! Thankfully we were gifted a new product from the So Slimelicious DIY to enjoy at home. My daughter adores playing with slime. It’s really therapeutic for her to play with it and she loves to sit watching a film and plying with her slime. We’ve reviewed the So Slime DIY Slimelicious Case before and my daughter really enjoyed making her own slime. Slimelicious Mini Shop and Collectibles…

Half term has gone by in a bit of a blur for us. We have been quite busy visiting family and friends. Both the children seem to miss the routine that school brings, especially Little Sis who needs to keep her brain active during the holidays. Fortunately we were gifted a fun STEM kit from Thames & Kosmos featuring their creative young heroine, Pepper Mint, which kept her mind busy. Pepper Mint: The Magnificent Mars Expedition She couldn’t wait to open up the kit. Pepper Mint: The Magnificent Mars Expedition which sees Pepper head off to space on a mission…

Now the children and I have broken up for the half term holiday I feel that we can really start getting excited about Halloween. We’ve already been to a pumpkin patch to pick our pumpkins, we’ve decorated them, and have made a fabulous display. Halloween Haunted House colouring activity for kids I have a few more Halloween crafts and activities to share which will help the kids to celebrate the spookiest of seasons. It’s one of our favourites times of year (after Christmas, of course!), and my kids have been super creative turning everything from oranges to cardboard tubes into…

My 9 year old really enjoys coding and wants to be a computer game designer when he’s older. I think he would enjoy school more if he had more IT lessons as these are definitely a favourite subject! Last year he signed up to a Coding Club at our local library and we’ve been trying to encourage him to learn more in his spare time. You Can Code: Make your own games, apps and more in Scratch and Python A few weeks ago we were gifted a copy of You Can Code by Kevin Pettman. This is a straightforward guide,…

We’ve been working with Bandai to review some of their fun STEM kits. My children love the STEM subjects and I’m always keen to encourage them at home. We were recently #gifted the Build Your Own Volcano National Geographic STEM kit to try. Build Your Own Volcano {STEM at home} The Build Your Own Volcano kit lets you create an eruption with the National Geographic volcano science kit. Your child will get to cast their own volcano (plaster and mould included), paint it (paint and brush provided), and then make it erupt (includes eruption powder). You can also learn about…

Over the last few weeks we have been kept busy reviewing some of the wonderful STEM kits from Bandai. At the start of half term we were gifted some STEM kits which required a little time and patience, so we set them up and waited. We had never seen the Blue Crystal Growing Lab from National Geographic or The Original Sea Monkeys Ocean-Zoo kit so were excited to try them out at home. Blue Crystal Growing Lab from National Geographic The first kit we tried was the Blue Crystal Growing Lab from National Geographic. Big Brother wanted to try this…
