A few weeks ago we found ourselves with a free afternoon in west London. Pitzhangar Manor had been on our list for a while and we decided to go and explore Walpole Park in Ealing. Exploring Walpole Park with kids Walpole Park is in the London Borough of Ealing. It’s located at the edge of Ealing Broadway behind Pitzhanger Manor House. We were lucky to get a parking space outside and walk through the impressive gates at the front of Pitzhanger Manor House. The House was once the early 19th-century country home of Sir John Soane, and is now a museum…

If you’re looking for somewhere a bit different to take the kids then why not take a walk through the Leake Street Tunnel? It’s free, it changes every time you visit, and it’s really easy to get to from London Waterloo/South Bank. Both of my kids love street art, it’s something we’re always looking out for, and the Leake Street Tunnel is a really accessible venue to take them. Re-visiting Leake Street Tunnel with kids Leake Street and the Leake Street Tunnel are a couple of minutes walk from London Waterloo and the South Bank. Leake Street is a place…

This week we were invited to try DNA VR, London’s first and largest virtual reality attraction, taking immersive experiences to the next level with venues in Camden, Hammersmith and Battersea Power Station. We visited the Hammersmith venue, just 5 minutes from Hammersmith tube station. DNA VR: London’s First Virtual Reality Arcade DNA VR offers something for everyone. Kids ages 6 and up can test their rhythm with Synth Riders, play shop with Job Simulator, or shoot fruit with (what else?) Shooty Fruity. Those a little older – and feeling a little braver – might like to try their luck to…

This year we started a family bucket list – a list of things we want to try and do or visit. Time goes so quickly that we thought this would help us focus on making some happy memories as a family. With a clear day we decided to tick off a trip to God’s Own Junkyard, Walthamstow. A trip to God’s Own Junkyard, Walthamstow God’s Own Junkyard is a really quirky place, a funky art store/cafe and bar featuring colourful neon and lightbulb signs and other eclectic pieces. Apparently not only is it home to the oldest signmakers in London,…

We love a trip to see Christmas lights. Last year we booked to visit Christmas at Kew but it sadly got cancelled due to the pandemic. So we were excited to re-book and go this year. Kew Gardens is a wonderful place to visit any season and we were lucky to visit Kew Gardens last March. Light installations and trails are becoming increasingly popular. Last year we enjoyed the lights around Wembley Park Christmas lights and drove around the track at Silverstone. Experiences are popping up all over the country and make a welcome outdoor activity! Christmas at Kew Christmas…

A few weeks ago we found ourselves in London for the first time in ages. I miss London so much but I haven’t felt like getting on the tube with other people. However I’ve really missed everything about London so we took the chance off a day with no plans and headed into London. Our first stop was The Globe on the Southbank for a special storytelling session of Twelfth Night. I’ve wanted to take the children to The Globe for ages and the special session for children seemed perfect. Shakespeare’s plays aren’t totally accessible for children but the storytelling…

Despite living next to the London Borough of Harrow we don’t seem to hop over the border very often. The last time was when we made a visit to Bentley Priory Nature Reserve which was very cold and muddy. Headstone Manor and Museum has been on my list for a while and some cancelled plans meant we were able to visit this weekend. Headstone Manor and Museum, Harrow Headstone Museum, also known as the Harrow Museum, is the local history museum for the London Borough of Harrow in England. The Harrow Museum is made up of four historic buildings, which…

We love a wander around London and the old East End is a real favourite old stomping ground of mine. It’s a great area to visit with kids and there’s lots to see and do. Old Spitalfields Market is a vibrant market full of independent traders, but you will also find some well known brands in the surrounding shops, as well as lots of places to eat and drink. Our visit took place a few weeks ago but despite the restrictions we thought Old Spitalfields Market was still worth a visit. The market was open for takeaway food and drink…
