The weather has changed so much in the last few weeks that’s it’s hard to believe we were camping a few weeks ago. I wanted to share a few of our Isle of Wight adventures because it is such a great place for family holidays. I grew up there so I may be a teensy bit biased, but I love going back with my own children. A few years ago we discovered the Crockers Farm milk vending machine which I wanted to tell you about today. Crockers Farm milk vending machine I love a good vending machine. On our recent…

On our recent trip to the Isle of Wight we made a couple of visits to The Garlic Farm. It’s a proper working farm with a farm shop, restaurant and farm walks. It had been a while since our last visit and we wanted to eat in their amazing restaurant. Exploring The Garlic Farm, Isle of Wight The Garlic Farm can be found on Mersley Lane in Newchurch. It’s in a little valley and a real sun trap. There is plenty to do at The Garlic Farm so we parked our car in the free car park and headed to…

Originally a dairy farm, Tapnell has become the Isle of Wight’s leading eco-tourism business where sustainability is at the heart of everything they do. It’s been top of our list of family-friendly places to visit for a while and we finally managed it last week. Tapnell Farm is on the west side of the island, near Yarmouth. They are open all year and it’s a fun place to visit whatever the weather. We love a maize maze and couldn’t wait to walk through the sunflower meadow and maize maze at Tapnell Farm. Sunflower Meadow and Maize Maze at Tapnell Farm…

We’ve been lucky to have two holidays on the Isle of Wight this year. Earlier in the year we stayed in a lovely Airbnb in Gurnard and we decided to go back to the island for a camping break during the school holidays. A few years ago we camped at Parkdean Resorts Nodes Point and this time we opted for another Park Dean site, Thorness Bay Holiday Park on the north side of the Isle of Wight. Camping at Parkdean Resorts Thorness Bay Isle of Wight Can you believe we hadn’t camped since 2019, although both the children have with…

Have you ever thought of going on a dinosaur walk before? We recently spent some time on the Isle of Wight and we were looking for different things to do. We’ve visited Carisbrooke Castle and Osborne House lots of times, so wanted to find something a little unusual. The kids both love learning about dinosaurs and as the Isle of Wight is famous as a site of many dinosaurs finds, we thought we would try a dinosaur walk, looking for dinosaur fossils. Dinosaur walks on the Isle of Wight We love exploring the Isle of Wight. It’s a great place…

Despite having grown up on the Isle of Wight I didn’t know it was possible to take a guided tour of Bembridge Fort which is owned by the National Trust. We recently spent a week on the Isle of Wight and booked a load of fun things to do with the kids. If you’re looking for something a little different to do then why not book yourself on a tour of Bembridge Fort? It’s on the top of Culver Down with the most amazing views over the Island. Exploring Bembridge Fort with kids It’s important to note that access to…

It seems ages ago we enjoyed our family holiday on the Isle of Wight. We’ve been fortunate to visit many times and had a great time exploring our favourite haunts. There were new places too, one of which was the delightfully named Snacks and Ladders Board Game Cafe. We are a family that just loves board games so we couldn’t wait to visit. Snacks and Ladders Board Game Cafe A Board Game Cafe is a cafe with board games you can play. You can just turn up and play, or you can play and enjoy food and drink whilst you play.…

Last weekend we finally got our tent and camping stuff up together and went camping at Parkdean Resorts, Nodes Point, Isle of Wight. We had booked a short weekend break with my sister and her family, and were looking forward to camping again. Camping at Parkdean Resorts Nodes Point Isle of Wight We took the Red Funnel ferry over to the Isle of Wight from Southampton. For us, this is when our journey really begins! It was a quick crossing over to West Cowes and we kept the children busy with a selection of Rubik’s toys. From West Cowes it…

Luckily for us we get to spend a lot of time on the Isle of Wight. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s a small island off the South Coast of England. It’s where I grew up and where my family live. It’s also the best stomping ground for charity shops, especially Ryde, where my mum and sister happen to live. I always make sure to spare an hour or so to walk down the beautiful High Street into Union Street and down to the beach and there are plenty of charity and antique shops to keep you busy along…
