Have you heard of Champing? It’s a mix between a Church and camping, because several churches have thrown open their doors to campers! Yes, you can stay in some wonderful Church buildings for a totally different experience. We thought this sounded like a fun adventure, and found the gorgeous St Bartholomew’s Church in Lower Failand, just outside Bristol. The experience was dog-friendly (teen-friendly too!) so no-one was left behind. Champing with teens (and a dog!) I discovered Champing on Instagram a few years ago and have been trying to find the right time to try it out. We found a…

A few weeks ago we took the opportunity to look round Harrow School. This is a public school in Harrow on the Hill near where we live. The school was founded in 1572 by John Lyon, a local landowner and farmer, under a royal charter of Queen Elizabeth I. Although it is a boarding school there are open days throughout the year. Exploring the history of Harrow School If you’ve ever wondered if it’s possible to visit Harrow School then let me tell you that you can! We booked tickets for the historic tour of Harrow School which takes place…

A few weeks ago my daughter and I took part in a fun workshop at our local ceramic cafe making mini jelly cat inspired clay models. We had such a great time we decided to go again, this time booking a wax melts workshop. We’ve made our own wax melts at home using a craft kit but were excited to make more. Wax melts workshop @ Wick and Ceramic First of all we painted our own wax burners. There were so many colours to choose from, along with a handy guide to what the colours would look like once glazed…

I love exploring London with my teens and wanted to share a recent adventure we had at Lift109 at Battersea Power Station. Battersea Power Station is a true London icon and has been converted to a new use, like Tate Modern. Today Battersea Power Station is a shopping destination with some great shops, places to eat and entertainment venue. We’ve visited to look round the building, as well as explore some of the public art trails which have taken place there. Lift109 at Battersea Power Station With two teens to keep busy we thought we would book a visit to…

Over the weekend we went into London to visit Liberty London flagship store on Great Marlborough Street. This is one of my favourite department stores, and my favourite fabrics to work with, and well worth a visit any time of the year. This year sees them celebrate their 150th anniversary with a programme of curated exhibitions, immersive installations, special collections and so much more. We visited to see the free exhibition called I Am. We Are. Liberty. as well as the installation of the Liberty Patchwork House. I Am. We Are. Liberty. Our first stop was the I Am. We…

A few weeks ago we went to visit Painshill Park in Surrey. It’s highly recommended, especially if you enjoy scenic walks, historical architecture, and tranquil natural settings. Located in Cobham, Surrey, this 18th century landscaped garden spans 160 acres and features a variety of follies and picturesque views. It’s also been used as a film location, so many of the places were familiar to us! Highlights of Painshill Park Painshill Park is worth a visit and is a beautiful landscaped garden packed with a variety of places to explore. There is a house called Painshill but this is not open…

We love a free public sculpture trail and there seem to be more each year. Have you heard of The Big Egg Hunt sculpture trail? Building on the success of The Little Egg Hunt which took place last year (and which we wrote about here). this year is bigger and better with over 100 eggs beautifully designed by high-profile artists to raise awareness for wildlife conservation charity, The Elephant Family. The Big Egg Hunt London sculpture trail This year is bigger and better because, not even are there more 2ft eggs to discover, there is also an easy to use…
