A trip to The Knit & Stitch Show 2025

Posted on October 11, 2025 by jenny

Yesterday I made my annual trip to The Knit & Stitch Show in London. It was held at Ally Pally and as we used to live nearby, I am always happy to visit the area with it’s magnificent views over north London.

I booked my workshops in advance and had an early start to get there for 8.30 before the show opened. My first workshop was making re-useable fabric crackers with Janet Goddard. I’ve wanted to make these for ages and a workshop was a great way see if I would like making them. There was little stitching involved and it came together quite quickly, one side is larger than the other so it slots inside. I like the idea of making them in Liberty Tana Lawn, so I may come back to this craft.

I tried the introduction to sashiko session, a Japanese method of visibly mending fabric in a decorative manner with Lauren Tedstone from Sewing Bee. I’ve tried sashiko before and it’s really relaxing. I didn’t learn anything new, but came away with half an idea to add decorative stitching to my denim.

My final workshop was making a macrame knotty brooch workshop with Paula Clark from Cocoon & Me. I love the idea of macrame but never seem to grasp it. The brooch was soooo simple it only took a minute to learn, but I like the way you can then use it to make a keyring or necklace.

In between my workshops I visited the Show. There seemed to be more exhibitions this year, which were lovely to explore. I loved the quilted wings, sadly I can’t remember the name of the artist. I also really enjoyed the Safety Pin House by Lynn Setterington, the safety pins question the notion of home as a safe and secure place.

Although there were plenty of beautiful fabrics to buy, I think I was restrained this year. My only purchase was some gorgeous Moda fabrics and a punch needle kit from The Modern Crafter. My teen said she wanted to try needle punch and this kit looks great for us both to try.

It was a fun day out with so much inspiration. It was busy though! So many like-minded people all looking at fabric or watching the Prima stage. I was happy to leave with my purchases and start planning my next make!

Every year I blog about my purchases to shame me into making them. Here are my previous posts:

What an amazing show, I want to start visiting more shows next year and this would be a great one to go with. Will definitely look out for it in 2026
