I love this time of year, especially when I have the time off work to enjoy it! We are really enjoying some time together at home to relax and craft. A few weeks ago we watched the trailer for the upcoming Grinch film. Based on the 1957 Dr. Seuss story How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, it’s something we can’t wait to watch as the book has been a staple of our festive Book Advent for the last few years. In case you’re not familiar with it: The Grinch hatches a scheme, with his trusted canine Max, to ruin Christmas when the residents of Whoville…

This is a guest post from our friends at Mrs Mactivity, who make creative learning resources to download and print, for parents and teachers. Download the Halloween Friendship Bracelet template here. Halloween is such a fun seasonal event! There’s pumpkin soup to make, costumes to prepare, trick or treating, parties, fun and excited children! It’s a sort of second place Christmas – after your own birthday of course. It’s also a really good opportunity to involve children in crafting and creative activities, to help them develop fine motor skills and above all, to have fun and spend quality time together…

My children just adore crafting and we have a huge box of Hama beads that never seem to go down. They are a really easy toy to play with and I love that I can bring the box out every so often and let the kids create with the hama beads. They are such a tactile toy and perfect for encouraging fine motor skills and creativity. Kid-made Hama bead crafts for Halloween With Halloween approaching soon I actually bought more Hama beads! We really didn’t need any more but I couldn’t resist buying a bag of glow in the dark…

I’m sure I should be sharing some of our Halloween crafts with you but I’m just not quite done with Autumn yet. Yesterday we had a slow walk home from school as we were all admiring the gorgeous leaves. We walk past some beautiful trees and you can’t help but stop and pick up a selection of falling leaves. A few weeks ago we made a lovely Autumnal sun catcher with our collection of leaves. The colours changed so quickly but I love having the children’s art work up around the house, so it stayed up for a good few…

I love an easy after school craft activity to help my kids wind down. My 8 year old loves robots. He’s been drawing quite a few of them recently so we tried making them into 3D robots using some of our craft supplies. They turned out really well so I thought I’d share them. Mini Robot treasure box supplies: Craft matchboxes Silver paper Bostik Glu Dots Googly eyes Black straws How to craft Mini Robot treasure boxes My son loves a little box to keep his treasures in so I found some empty craft matchboxes to use as the base of…

My children are little magpies, collecting leaves, conkers and acorns wherever we go. Over the weekend we had a lovely walk in our local woods where we went on a little scavenger hunt, encouraging them to collect different coloured leaves along the way. The sun was falling through the trees overhead and it was lovely to be out after a morning of heavy rain. My youngest ran and ran, only stopping when she came across a den amongst the trees, or to show us something she had found. I wanted to use the autumnal leaves they had picked up so…

The weather has been warm and sunny today, a really Indian Summer. We should have been out making the most of it but it was lovely to look through the latest box of craft supplies we were sent at Bostik Bloggers. Each month we are sent Bostik craft supplies to make something, the theme was Space. Easy Craft Stick Star decorations We decided to make and decorate craft stick stars.…

I know we’ve only just survived the first week back at school but I’m beginning to get excited about Halloween at the end of next month. My kids love Halloween and whilst we might not go all out for horror and zombies, we can’t result stocking up on the Halloween candy and go Trick or Treating. Today I’m joining in with a Halloween blog hop with our Halloween painted rocks. We love decorating and hiding painted rocks. We hid a lot of our painted rocks stash over the summer, hiding them locally near where we live and also taking a…
