Today we went to see the huge Harry Potter wands which have been placed between St Paul’s Cathedral and the Millennium Bridge. There were 7 huge wands (one from each of the main characters from Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts). It was super busy but the atmosphere was great. The wands are switched on every evening at 6.45 so do pop down if you are in the area.
This felt like a very Halloween-y thing to do in London today. Our house is decorated, sweets have been bought for the Trick or Treaters, and we are in the mood for watching a good Halloween film – Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them counts, right?
Anyway, we have had lots of lovely time to craft over half term and I really wanted to share our fun paper plate Halloween ghosts with you all today. I love a paper plate craft and these are so simple but fun to make.

How to make paper plate ghosts for Halloween
I gave both children a couple of paper plates and a pot of coloured pens for them to design their own ghostly faces on the plates. I love their imagination. They both love emoji’s so can see the influence of them shining through!
The 6 year old drew on eyes and a mouth, then decided to add googly eyes over the top. The 8 year old made some cute emoji ghost faces.
When they had finished designing their ghosts we turned the plates over. They cut long strips from the white tissue paper, attaching them to the edge of their paper plate with sticky tape.
We punched holes at the top of each paper plate and tied a length of string through them so we could hang them up. They look great hanging up in a draughty doorway with their tissue paper legs moving in the breeze!
These are so brilliant! I made paper plate monsters with my Brownies last year. Gotta love the humble paper plate 🙂
What an effective and simple idea to make with kids. It look really cool. Even the youngest child could do this.
