Dr Seuss's The Grinch and Max paper plate craft for kids to make from the gingerbread house blog

Dr Seuss’s The Grinch and Max paper plate craft for kids

Posted on October 23, 2018November 30, 2021 by jenny

I love this time of year, especially when I have the time off work to enjoy it! We are really enjoying some time together at home to relax and craft. A few weeks ago we watched the trailer for the upcoming Grinch film. Based on the 1957 Dr. Seuss story How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, it’s something we can’t wait to watch as the book has been a staple of our festive Book Advent for the last few years. In case you’re not familiar with it:

The Grinch hatches a scheme, with his trusted canine Max, to ruin Christmas when the residents of Whoville plan to make their annual holiday three times bigger that year. Meanwhile, Cindy Lou Who plans to seek out Santa Claus to thank him for helping her widowed mother every Christmas, but little does she know she is trying to blow the Grinch’s cover.

It’s a fun story and we can’t wait to see it translated to the big screen (especially as Benedict Cumberbatch is voicing the Grinch!). We’ve never crafted around any of the Dr Seuss books so are excited to share with you our fun Grinch and Max paper plate people. This is a lovely craft for kids and will help get them excited for The Grinch and Christmas!

How to make The Grinch and Max paper plate craft

First cut out the person template and set aside.

Pick one of the quotes, cut it out and hole punch each end. Decorate and string the yarn through the back.

Fold the paper plate in half. Trace the template onto the plate, making sure the hands and feet connect in the middle fold.

Cut the person out of the paper plate, keeping the plate folded & making sure not to cut the hands and feet that connect.

Open to reveal two people. Colour as desired.

Hole punch the hands and tie the yarn to each end to hand the banner.

Fold at the center and stand up.

The Grinch is ready to steal Christmas!

Pin for later:
