    March crafting

    March has flown by, probably because we had a couple of birthdays and Mothers Day to celebrate. I consciously made more effort to pick up my sewing projects, which was the perfect antidote to spending my day in front of the computer. March crafting The first hoop I stitched in March was this cute ‘Mummy & Me’ embroidery hoop kit from Stitch with Skye. It features a Mother and Child with floral blooms on a 6” embroidery hoop. I haven’t made anything for Mother’s Day for a while and enjoyed stitching something a little different. The second hoop was this…

    Mini book snow globe

    This year I’m taking part in the Goodreads 2023 Reading Challenge. I set my target to read 35 books this year. I don’t read so much with my children anymore, and I’m also working full-time, which doesn’t leave me as much time to read as I would like. So 35 books felt realistic – there’s nothing worse than setting yourself a target that you won’t reach. I like using Goodreads to record the books I read, but I wanted to make some kind of visual representation too. I decided to combine a mini version of the books I’ve read with…

    Recycled Golden Syrup tin candles

    I love to recycle items and found I had a few Golden Syrup tins which I had collected due to their pretty packaging. Lyle’s Golden Syrup is a British heritage brand and their tins are instantly recognisable. Occasionally they do special tins, such as the one created for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Edition in 2022. I do like to buy these kind of items then wonder what to do with them when I’ve used the contents! The Lyle’s Golden Syrup tin was just the perfect shape to re-purpose into a unique candle, so I had a go. First of all…

    February crafting

    February is such a short month and I think that’s reflected in my crafting time this month. Plus I had half term and Covid which meant I didn’t spend as much time on my crafting hobbies as I would have liked. However I still wanted to blog about my crafting adventures this month. February crafting At the beginning of the month I made a sleep mask out of some gorgeous Liberty fabrics. I love crafting with Liberty fabrics and surrounding myself with pretty, and useful, items. Choosing what Liberty fabrics to use made me think of the Liberty tumbler quilt…

    January crafting

    I’m so happy that January is nearly over. It’s such a long month and I am looking forward to getting paid and embracing February next week! January has felt like a long month, although when I look back I have been quite crafty and made some fun things. I was lucky to receive the 2022 Winter Craftpod subscription box for Christmas from my other half. This is my favourite quarterly subscription box and is always a joy to open. It was just what I needed and I’ve loved making the two craft kits which were inside. 2022 Winter Craftpod There…

    Merry and Bright Mini Quilt {Part 3}

    The run up to Christmas was super busy and I didn’t have any time to sew. However I picked up my Merry and Bright Mini Quilt on Christmas Day after the kids had gone to bed (when they eventually did!) and managed to finish the hand quilting, cut and sew the binding. Merry and Bright Mini Quilt {Part 3} This Pretty Fabrics and Trims kit contained the pattern with detailed instructions, plus all the fabrics, including pre-printed cotton/linen mix fabric for the embroidery elements, embroidery threads, English Paper Pieces, ribbon, trims, buttons, wadding, backing fabric and binding fabric. I managed…

    Easy Liberty cinnamon tree decorations

    Every year I enjoy making a few new decorations. This year I added some easy Liberty cinnamon tree decorations. I had a lot of fun choosing my favourite Christmas Liberty prints and stitching up these Liberty cinnamon trees. So far I’ve made three and I love to see a splash of Liberty on our Christmas tree. Liberty cinnamon trees supplies: Liberty fabric Scissors String Toy stuffing Cinnamon sticks Sewing machine Easy Liberty cinnamon tree decorations I cut a paper triangle and used it as a template for my tree, cutting two triangles from the fabric. I placed one fabric triangle…

    Merry and Bright mini quilt {Part 2}

    I’ve tried hard (and failed) to not buy too many Christmas craft kits. I always love the idea of them, but am usually short of time at this time of year. A few weeks ago I picked up the Merry and Bright mini quilt kit I had. This Pretty Fabrics and Trims kit contained the pattern with detailed instructions, plus all the fabrics, including pre-printed cotton/linen mix fabric for the embroidery elements, embroidery threads, English Paper Pieces, ribbon, trims, buttons, wadding, backing fabric and binding fabric. Merry and Bright mini quilt {Part 1} I had already stitched the pre-printed panels,…
