    Liberty fabric rocks

It’s been a while since we’ve painted any rocks to hide locally. We have such a stash that we can pick a couple up on our way out, we have so many! However I recently had some small off-cuts of my favourite Liberty fabrics and  decided to use them to make some updated rocks. Liberty fabric rocks I like to keep a pot for scraps of Liberty fabrics. Liberty fabrics are so colourful and pretty that it seems a shame to throw them away, so the simplest thing to do was keep a small pot for little pieces and off…

    June crafting

So somehow we are half way through the year already. This is the sixth time I’m sitting down to hold myself accountable for my crafting over the month. This is a busy time of year and our diary feels full of end of term events – which is my excuse for not crafting much! Let’s see what kept me busy during the month of June. June crafting Both my children were awarded a few Scouts activity badges so I spent a happy hour stitching them on their uniforms. I also finished adding my daughter’s old Cubs badges to her badge…

    May crafting

So where did May go? One minute we were enjoying April and May seems to have passed by in a flash – must have something to do with all those Bank Holidays we’ve been enjoying. This is a monthly post I’ve started writing to make myself a little more accountable for the things I make. May crafting I’m so happy that the Great British Sewing Bee is back on our screens again. I love watching the sewers and the fun challenges they are given each week. It always makes me wish I was more adventurous with my dress making! I…

    April crafting

Last month was quite slow for me. As the days have been longer, and the weather warmer, we’ve been out more so there has been less time to craft. There was also a 2 week Easter break where we enjoyed a few days exploring the beautiful city of York. Each month I write about the things I have been making. In April I bought a Coronation hoop kit to commemorate the Coronation of King Charles III this weekend. Although there were two colourways I opted for the red embroidery thread so this is my first piece of redwork. I think…

    March crafting

March has flown by, probably because we had a couple of birthdays and Mothers Day to celebrate. I consciously made more effort to pick up my sewing projects, which was the perfect antidote to spending my day in front of the computer. March crafting The first hoop I stitched in March was this cute ‘Mummy & Me’ embroidery hoop kit from Stitch with Skye. It features a Mother and Child with floral blooms on a 6” embroidery hoop. I haven’t made anything for Mother’s Day for a while and enjoyed stitching something a little different. The second hoop was this…

    Mini book snow globe

This year I’m taking part in the Goodreads 2023 Reading Challenge. I set my target to read 35 books this year. I don’t read so much with my children anymore, and I’m also working full-time, which doesn’t leave me as much time to read as I would like. So 35 books felt realistic – there’s nothing worse than setting yourself a target that you won’t reach. I like using Goodreads to record the books I read, but I wanted to make some kind of visual representation too. I decided to combine a mini version of the books I’ve read with…

    Recycled Golden Syrup tin candles

I love to recycle items and found I had a few Golden Syrup tins which I had collected due to their pretty packaging. Lyle’s Golden Syrup is a British heritage brand and their tins are instantly recognisable. Occasionally they do special tins, such as the one created for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Edition in 2022. I do like to buy these kind of items then wonder what to do with them when I’ve used the contents! The Lyle’s Golden Syrup tin was just the perfect shape to re-purpose into a unique candle, so I had a go. First of all…

    February crafting

February is such a short month and I think that’s reflected in my crafting time this month. Plus I had half term and Covid which meant I didn’t spend as much time on my crafting hobbies as I would have liked. However I still wanted to blog about my crafting adventures this month. February crafting At the beginning of the month I made a sleep mask out of some gorgeous Liberty fabrics. I love crafting with Liberty fabrics and surrounding myself with pretty, and useful, items. Choosing what Liberty fabrics to use made me think of the Liberty tumbler quilt…
