The summer holidays have started for us! We have so many plans of things we want to do over the summer months. We’re looking forward to sharing some of the crafts and activities we get up to. We thought we’d start with our DIY braided friendship bracelet tutorial because it’s such a fun activity for tweens and teens. I loved making them when I was younger and was excited to share them with my daughter. First of all you will need to gather supplies. Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to sit down and write. Monday Happy Things {Week 405} Hope you had a great week. We were so busy as our old fridge freezer broke down and we had to get a new fridge freezer. Unfortunately we had just done a big food shop and couldn’t find…

This morning we were invited to Kidzania London where Future Spotlight Productions in collaboration with KidZania London were presenting the premiere of Jack and the Beanstalk. Little Sis has been asking to visit KidZania London for months so we were really excited to go along. It’s been a while since our last visit and KidZania felt very different! Jack and The Beanstalk at KidZania London Kidzania London is an indoor city run by kids with more than 60 real-life activities. My kids have always enjoyed the realistic role-play adventures, and of course, the chance to earn money! You can read…

On Friday my husband and I had a rare day off together. I was looking for lavender fields near me and came across Hitchin Lavender Fields, about an hour north of London. Over the last few years we’ve visited sunflower fields, pumpkin patches, poppy fields and wild flower meadows. It’s been a while since our last visit to a lavender field and we were excited to explore somewhere new to us. Exploring Hitchin Lavender Fields If you’re looking for lavender fields near London then I’d recommend driving an hour to the Hitchin Lavender Fields. You can pre-book your ticket or…

I love stitching with Liberty London fabrics. I have a little stash which I love to use when I’m sewing. I’ve been thinking about making some re-useable face wipes for a while. We’re all trying to be more sustainable at the moment, and this is a great way to use up fabric and help the environment too. Re-useable face wipes supplies: 15cm x 15cm Liberty fabric 15cm x 15 cm bamboo towelling Scissors and pins Matching thread Sewing machine How to make your own re-useable face wipes Cut out a circle approximately 8cm from a piece of cardboard (a cereal…

Have you ever thought of going on a dinosaur walk before? We recently spent some time on the Isle of Wight and we were looking for different things to do. We’ve visited Carisbrooke Castle and Osborne House lots of times, so wanted to find something a little unusual. The kids both love learning about dinosaurs and as the Isle of Wight is famous as a site of many dinosaurs finds, we thought we would try a dinosaur walk, looking for dinosaur fossils. Dinosaur walks on the Isle of Wight We love exploring the Isle of Wight. It’s a great place…

So I finished The Summer Sampler mini quilt. It’s always a little anti-climactic when I finish a good book or piece of sewing. I find myself investing in the characters, or the fabric. However I am really chuffed to finish this mini quilt! The Summer Sampler mini quilt {update 4} ‘The Summer Sampler’ Block of the Month Club was purchased in 2019 from Pretty Fabrics and Trims. I love their kits and have quite a few (bought but not made!). Spread over 4 months, each month I received a little packet containing Monthly instructions, super pretty fabrics and embroidery threads…

We were recently sent a copy of The Extraordinary Voyage of Katy Willacott by Sharon Gosling. Little Sis is 10 and a real book worm but she tends to re-read her favourite authors over and over. I thought this would be a great opportunity to discover a new author and share a book together. The Extraordinary Voyage of Katy Willacott Living among the flowers and ferns of Kew Gardens, Katy has always dreamed of more – of the sky and the stars and the sea. Unfortunately for Katy, her father doesn’t understand. He says young girls should be content to…
