Floral tapestry embroidery hoop

Floral tapestry embroidery hoop

For the last few weeks I’ve been stitching the Eva Verbruggen tapestry project from my latest Hoop Club subscription box. I find embroidery kits really hit and miss. Sometimes I love them and stitch then straight away, other times I just squirrel them away in my craft cupboard. However, I love to try different types of crafts so was excited to try the tapestry hoop project.

The tapestry kit included the pre-printed fabric panel, selection of tapestry threads, wooden hoop and needle. The wool colours were really pretty and it was fun to sew with wool threads for a change.

First of all I stitched the large flowers with satin stitch.

The I stitched some lovely large French knots.

Finally I filled the remaining sections with basket weave which was very satisfying. There were a few cheeky white spaces left so I filled them with a few more French knots.

The tapestry wool was lovely and thick so the hoop came together quite quickly. It was fun to stitch this hoop, relaxing because I didn’t have to concentrate too much! The colours are great for Autumn so the hoop is proudly displayed on my desk for now. Time to pick another project …
