We have a collection of nappy balms in different tubes and jars. We’re really fortunate that Edward doesn’t often suffer from nappy rash, only when he has a new tooth coming through or if he has an upset tummy. We were sent a new Nappy Balm from Baby Sensory to try. It’s not just a nappy balm but as it’s Hypoallergenic, free from essential oils and SLS, it can also be used during pregnancy and for the whole family. Ingredients include: Sunflower seed oil moisturises the skin and provides a protective barrier that resists infection Castor oil cleans and softens…

We were asked if we would like to try teething bling. It’s a great name which hooked me immediately to find out more. A little package duly arrived which I excitedly opened and found contained the loveliest, if unusual, necklace which was beautifully packaged. Teething bling has been designed to help babies who love to grab and chew whilst they are teething. As Edward only has 6 teeth this has been a useful aid. It is produced as a necklace or bangle and means you don’t have to stop wearing jewellery whilst your child is teething. When I gave it…

My latest favourite craft is cross stitch. I’ve been working my way through my copy of Cath Kidston Stitch which is full of projects which can be made using needlepoint or cross stitch. This pattern turned our bigger than it was supposed to but I’m enjoying the challenge of trying something new. It’s a great excuse to visit more craft shops too! Linking up with Handmade Thursday

Silver Spring have launched a new spring water especially designed for children with the aim of encouraging them to keep hydrated. Apparently only 6% of children drink their recommended daily allowance of water. The bottles feature three designs: Angelina Ballerina, Firemen Sam and Bob the Builder. Edward received the Firemen Sam and Bob the Builder bottles to try. At 14 months old I struggle to get him to drink during the day. He has a variety of cups for water and apart from his two bottles of milk a day seems to drink very little water. I gave him a…

I found this post as a draft that has been hanging around since November 2010! Time unfortunately hasn’t helped so I thought I would post it in case anyone can help. I have to rant about disposable nappies. Ages ago we were asked to test Huggies natural fit nappies. During the day the nappies were fine but at night they consistently leaked meaning I had to change all of Eward’s clothes, sleeping bag and bed sheets. It’s not only Huggies that have let us down. We’ve also tried Pampers Active Fit and Pampers Baby Dry without success. Last week three…

Have you heard of the exclusive Norland Nannies? For over a century they have cared for the children of royalty and celebrities. Nanny in a book sells itself as the next best thing to a Norland Nanny, offering a handbook to parents full of top tips and personal advice. I was keen to review this book. With my family far away and many of my friends childless, it is often difficult to know where to turn for advice. The internet lacks the personal touch and I wondered how a book written by nannies would compare. I read the book from…

I’m hoping to record the highs and lows of my second pregnancy. So, from the beginning: Week 5 – I did a pregnancy test to confirm what I already knew! I had an allergic reaction to something which made my skin itchy but the Doctor said it was nothing pregnancy related. I sent off my self referral form to the North Middlesex Hospital (where I had my son last year). Week 6 – Feeling tired, tiny weight gain and discomfort around csection. Suffering from terrible nausea all day long so started listening to a great mp3 from Mums 2 Tums.…

The steal of my year was three vintage jigsaws for just 10p. I did query the woman who said 10p but obviously she didn’t see the potential in the jigsaws that I did. I happily handed over my 10p coin and took the jigsaws home. The vintage nursery The jigsaws were all made from thick board, cut into a few pieces and showed a cat and a dog, both in a similar style, and a third jigsaw of a clown character. I knew that the cat and dog would look amazing if they were framed and hung in Edward’s nursery.…

When is the right time to have a second baby? The million pound question with no right or wrong answer. My husband is an only child and we always knew we wanted at least two children. There’s a 3.5 year age gap between me and my sister which meant we hated each other when we were growing up but have been best friends since we both left home. We decided to try for another baby in January and I’m pleased to day it didn’t take long. I missed a period and bought a Boots Value Pregnancy test (I’m a SAHM…
