Gingerbread house finds

Posted on September 18, 2011February 19, 2019 by jenny

I found a lovely vintage toy last week which I snapped up as soon as I saw it! It was in the ‘cabinet’ where they place the items of higher value but it was marked a reasonable sum.

I love the bright colours of the humming top and it’s illustrated with the characters from the nursery rhyme ‘Hey diddle diddle’. It was made by Chad Valley in England – I am a complete sucker for vintage British toys. Fortunately it’s not too big so will look great on a shelf in the nursery (I just need to persuade my husband to put up another shelf!).

That’s gorgeous. Love the colours on it.

I managed to find an American one in my Salvation Army shop a couple of months back, I was expecting it to be a lot of money, but it was very reasonable. Maybe charity shops haven’t cottoned on to these ind of collectibles yet – shhhhhh!

A really lovely item. My mum often finds wonderful toys second hand but I just don’t have the knack (or perhaps she is just lucky with the charity shops near her)
