Starting my week with the Weekly Edit is a ritual I’ve kept for years. It’s my favourite Monday morning anchor—a chance to slow down, celebrate the ‘small wins,’ and gather the smiles from the week behind us. Part reflection and part record-keeping, it’s my way of documenting our family’s adventures before the next chapter begins.
The Weekly Edit {Week 24/2026}
Last week we finally finished painting our living room/dining room space and we even had time to go shopping for ideas to replace the furniture. Somehow we ended up with a new bookcase and desk for my daughter’s room. She wanted more space to work as she will be starting her GCSEs in September, so it was difficult to say no to her.
I finished reading Greengates by RC Sherriff last week so started reading The Valley of Ravens by Barbara Erskine. I like to read a mix of fiction and really enjoy both authors. Greengate’s was about retirement and suburbia whereas The Valley of Ravens is another haunting time slip novel. The book is set in the Welsh Marches/border country (which includes the beautiful Wye Valley area) and ties a modern story to the history of Llywelyn, the last true Prince of Wales. We’re staying in the Wye Valley this summer so am enjoying finding out more about the area.
We made some new accessories for our 3D printed Lego wreath to celebrate the Fifa World Cup which is currently taking place. We designed and printed 3D printed footballs and trophy’s to add to our basic green wreath. It still looked a little empty, so we added little flowers and dots for some summer colour.
My son finished his GCSE exams! It felt like they stretched over weeks and weeks, but now they are all done and he can relax and enjoy a long summer holiday. He made me sort out piles of revision notes and past papers now he has finished studying.
With all the decorating there hasn’t been much time for crafting. However I made a trinket dish with air-dry clay, inspired by the Air-Dry Masterpieces book I recently reviewed.

Ooh. The Valley of Ravens sounds like an amazing read! I love books like that. The setting sounds fantastic, too.
Oh, man. It must feel so good for him to be done with exams. I always found them to be incredibly stressful.
It sounds like you had a productive and rewarding week! Congratulations to your son on finishing his GCSE exams, and I love the idea of the 3D printed FIFA wreath, what a creative way to celebrate the season
It is always a relief when the exams are over isn’t it?! I hope you all enjoy the World Cup games, he currently have a sweepstake going at work. I am hoping to finish painting our living room soon too.
I do love your wreath, I have two 3d printers here and no idea how to use them, I have a few other machines as well that I have no idea about. Congratulations to your son finishing his exams
Sounds like a good week – bet your son is relieved to be at the end of his GCSE’s! We have been considering getting a 3d printer – how often do you use yours?
The 3D printed Lego wreath is awesome! I loooove how it came out, really perfect. Amazing idea.
I bet the space feels so nice now you’ve been able to paint it all. Ohh that must be such a relief for your son, I can’t even remember what I did during my long summer after my GCSE’s as I didn’t have a job then x
I do feel your daughter had a good reason for a room makeover! Sounds like you are very productive.
Awesome to know that you finished painting both the living and dining rooms. Thanks a lot for recommending the Greengates by RC Sherriff. Need to pick it up and give it a read.
