Starting my week with the Weekly Edit is a ritual I’ve kept for years. It’s my favourite Monday morning anchor—a chance to slow down, celebrate the ‘small wins,’ and gather the smiles from the week behind us. Part reflection and part record-keeping, it’s my way of documenting our family’s adventures before the next chapter begins.
The Weekly Edit {Week 24/2026}
Last week we finally finished painting our living room/dining room space and we even had time to go shopping for ideas to replace the furniture. Somehow we ended up with a new bookcase and desk for my daughter’s room. She wanted more space to work as she will be starting her GCSEs in September, so it was difficult to say no to her.
I finished reading Greengates by RC Sherriff last week so started reading The Valley of Ravens by Barbara Erskine. I like to read a mix of fiction and really enjoy both authors. Greengate’s was about retirement and suburbia whereas The Valley of Ravens is another haunting time slip novel. The book is set in the Welsh Marches/border country (which includes the beautiful Wye Valley area) and ties a modern story to the history of Llywelyn, the last true Prince of Wales. We’re staying in the Wye Valley this summer so am enjoying finding out more about the area.
We made some new accessories for our 3D printed Lego wreath to celebrate the Fifa World Cup which is currently taking place. We designed and printed 3D printed footballs and trophy’s to add to our basic green wreath. It still looked a little empty, so we added little flowers and dots for some summer colour.
My son finished his GCSE exams! It felt like they stretched over weeks and weeks, but now they are all done and he can relax and enjoy a long summer holiday. He made me sort out piles of revision notes and past papers now he has finished studying.
With all the decorating there hasn’t been much time for crafting. However I made a trinket dish with air-dry clay, inspired by the Air-Dry Masterpieces book I recently reviewed.
