We spent last week glamping with Jurassic Glamping at The Red House Farm, a small-scale, family orientated, luxury campsite on a smallholding in East Devon. We had been glamping back in 2012 with the kids so were really excited to do it again with them.
Jurassic Glamping at The Red House Farm
Our last experience was our own eight acres of private woodland in Devon, called The Wood Life. Just the four of us, a large tent, real beds and a wood burning stove. This time round we were staying on a small-scale glamping site, in one of six large safari-style tents with views over the Axe Valley.
We picked the location as it was close to the coast, the pretty sea side village of Lyme Regis and the famous Jurassic Coast. We made sure to book a guided fossil walk and were happy to explore the surrounding areas at our leisure.
Although the glamping site had six safari tents the site felt like we were camping on our own. Everything was designed so you had a lot of personal space with your own outside area featuring a hammock, fire pit and picnic bench. We were fortunate to have lovely weather and could spend a lot of time outdoors. There was also a shared play and eating area which was perfect if you were in a large group.
The tent was very comfortable, with a separate sleeping area at the back as well as an enclosed bathroom.
There was also a small kitchen area and plenty of seating for the four of us. We were all happy to be outside though and cooked on our fire pit, and enjoyed plenty of roasted marshmallows.
The site was both dog-friendly and child-friendly. Cars were only allowed on site when you were unpacking or packing, which meant the kids were able to run around and explore whenever they wanted.
There were handy wheelbarrows to carry kindling to your tent, and also a little honesty shop shed for essentials.
We had a lovely stay at Jurassic Glamping at The Red House Farm. Although the site was secluded we were only minutes away from Axminster and 10 minutes from Lyme Regis which made for a great location. We all slept really well and enjoyed the fresh country air.
