Picking sunflowers at The Pop Up Farm

Picking sunflowers at The Pop Up Farm

Posted on September 14, 2024 by jenny

Today we visited The Pop Up Farm so we could pick some sunflowers. The Pop Up Farm is just outside London and really easy to get to. We booked our tickets online which included the chance to pick our own sunflower so we made sure to take our secateurs!

Picking sunflowers at The Pop Up Farm

It’s easy to find The Pop Up Farm as they have a beautiful traditional red barn. We walked passed it to the sunflower fields, following the path through to find 8 different things around the sunflower fields, including a pommel horse, bath, picture frame and sunflower frame. These made fun photo props which the kids really enjoyed!

Big Brother took his camera as he’s already been given homework for his GCSE art. He had to photograph circles and luckily there were plenty of gorgeous, round, sunflower heads to photograph. Little Sis and I were happy to wander around looking for the photo props and found them all.

She was happy to pose for a photo in the bath but I’m not sure for how much longer! The sunflowers were looking there best and they were all out facing the sunshine. As it was the last weekend we were allowed to pick as many as we wanted. The sunflowers were huge and pretty heavy but we came away with about 10 stems. We found a handy station with string so could tie them together for the journey home.

We stopped to buy drinks so Little Sis could climb on the giant hay bales and sit on the tractor. There was a sign up saying they will be planting 40000 lavender plants in long strips next to the sunflowers so we are looking forward to visiting the lavender fields next spring, as well as coming back in October for pumpkin picking!

We went to a sunflower farm last year, but it was a bit late in the season and didn’t have photo points. This one looks really fun and well set up.
