‘The Summer Sampler’ Block of the Month Club {update 1}

This year I am trying, and failing, to not buy any more craft kits. At the start of the year I added a little list of unfinished projects to my sidebar and had great fun ticking them off. I recently came across the ‘The Summer Sampler’  Block of the Month Club which I bought in 2019 from Pretty Fabrics and Trims.

Spread over 4 months, each month I received a little packet containing Monthly instructions, super pretty fabrics and embroidery threads for three blocks. Over the 4 months this made a number of blocks which could be stitched together to make a super sweet Summer Sampler.

I decided to tackle each monthly packet on their own. I actually started the first month back in 2019 but mistakenly stitched some of the pieces the wrong way round on the Daisy Block which put me off. I decided to leave the first block as it wasn’t too obvious and carry on.

The second block featured orange peel appliques which were quite fiddly. The third block was an embroidered Heart Wreath. When I had finished each block I trimmed it to 5.5 inches.

Month 2 was slightly easier and I stitched it in a few days. The first block was an adorable EPP star made with Liberty Katie & Millie fabric.

The second block was a stitched allium flower in a patchwork block. The third block was a pretty appliqued flower with leaves and petals made from more Liberty fabrics.

All the blocks are different and I’m enjoying learning new techniques with each block. Some of my blocks are a little wonky but I’m trying to embrace the fact that I’m stitching and making rather than having craft kits sitting around unmade.

Now I’m half way I’m hopeful I will finish ‘The Summer Sampler’ Block of the Month Club and have a really pretty little quilt to hang up.
