Jenny Makes Mollie Makes Cacti & Succulent Mini Hoop Art

Every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new with each of the cover gifts.

Issue 68 included the Mollie Makes Cacti & Succulent Mini Hoop Art kit. It contained everything needed – 2 mini wooden hoops, grey cotton fabric, embroidery threads and a needle.

Inside the magazine was a page of 8 patterns for cacti and succulents. I removed the page, cut my fabric into small squares and traced the patterns – holding my fabric over the template, placing it on the window and gently tracing the pattern on to it.

The patterns are small but simple, each one taking about 10 minutes. I used 3 strands of embroidery thread for each one. I’m not sure what has taken me so long with this as it’s a fun cover gift. It’s a good size to carry around and I’ve been stitching a few recently whilst I’ve been visiting my husband in hospital.

This evening I framed my favourite two patterns in the wooden frames. Annoyingly, the stitched patterns were slightly too large for the frames, so I would suggest you reduce the pattern by 10% if possible.
