Easy Fortnite painted rocks for kids to make

My 9 year old is obsessed with Fortnite. I have to admit it’s not my favourite game that he plays but he’s allowed time to play if he does his homework. I think he would play i all day if he could so I make sure to have a few craft ideas to keep him busy away from the PS4. We’ve already had fun with our colourful Fortnite Slurp Juice Slime recipe. Today we wanted to share our Fortnite painted rocks, these were so much fun to decorate and hide.

Supplies

Bag of smooth pebbles or rocks (we like these – Amazon affiliate link)

White spray paint

Coloured acrylic paint

Fornite tattoo stencils

Varnish to seal the painted rocks (we use Wilko Gloss Yacht Varnish)

How to make easy Fortnite painted rocks

We have a big stash of smooth pebbles so we chose a handful, washed them in warm soapy water and left them to dry in the sun. I prefer to decorate rocks when they’ve been painted, so I spray painted the pebbles with white spray paint.

Much as I love my son’s drawings, sometimes it can be difficult to see the details in his drawings. I purchased a sheet of Fortnite tattoo stencils from ebay to use. These came as a sheet of 8 re-useable stencils, the kid that are often used at parties to create glitter tattoos. They were perfect for using to decorate our pebbles.

My son chose the design he wanted to use, peeled it from the backing sheet, and placed it where he wanted it. He tried lots of different pens to see which ones worked best.

Children’s colouring pens and my Posca pens worked best. Others tended to bleed out a little and as the designs were quite small, really just left a smudgy mark.
