Visiting a pumpkin patch in Somerset

Where to pick your own pumpkins in Somerset {Farrington’s Farm Shop}

Posted on October 22, 2017August 22, 2020 by jenny

Top of my Autumn wishlist was to visit a pumpkin patch. I researched all the pumpkin patches in London but we actually ended up visiting one in Somerset whilst we visited family in Somerset. I love a good farm shop and Farrington’s Farm Shop in Farrington Gurney, between Bath and Bristol. As well as the Farm Shop there’s also a cafe, playbarn and all kinds of little shops.

Spookley Pumpkin Festival

Spookley Pumpkin Festival runs in late October and supports national anti-bullying week. Spookley tells the story of a square pumpkin who lives in a pumpkin patch with a crop of round pumpkins. His appearance leads to him being bullied by the other vegetables because he is a different shape.

Our first stop was the pumpkin field to collect our pumpkin. It was freezing cold today but luckily not raining, so the kids loved exploring the pumpkin field and picking their pumpkin. Although we had agreed on one large family pumpkin, as soon as the children saw a whole field of them, they desperately wanted their own. I give in far too easily and of course they both picked up. I wanted one too and chose a small light green one.

Then it was time to wash our pumpkins before paying for them. The kids loved washing them even though the water was so cold.

Then we headed over to the barn to pay for our pumpkins (by size!). There were loads of activities including tractor rides, face painting, story time, pumpkin carving and much more.

We had a great time and could have spent a lot longer there. Unfortunately Little Sis wasn’t feeling too well and it was freezing cold! The kids loved seeing the pumpkins in the field and I’m so glad we made it. If you’re looking for a pumpkin patch or somewhere to pick your own pumpkins in Somerset then this is the place!

We visited Farrington’s Farm Shop. It cost £3 per child for all activities (includes pumpkin patch, carving, carving kit, trailer ride, Spookley story, film, face painting and more).

      Sadly this one is in Somerset, might be too far for a day trip from London!

    How would we get there from Michigan? Asking for a orange and cream cheetah…..I think he wants to do the carving this year.
