What I made in March 2025

March was a fun month! I love the chance to look back and see what I’ve made. It was a bumper month thanks to discovering a new, local, workshop, some lovely books, a trip to The Stitch Festival and lots of sewing too.

What I made in March 2025

I started the month by reviewing Bouquet in a Book by Prudence Rogers. This was gifted by David & Charles and I was happy to make my own paper flowers. I usually enjoy any type of craft and this was a bit different for me to learn. You can read my review of the book here.

My latest Cotton Clara hoop club kit landed in March and I was delighted it was an embroidery kit. The floral pattern was surrounded by words and I enjoyed embroidering the pattern with only one colour. It was simple but easy, so I was able to binge on some Netflix whilst stitching.

The latest issue of love embroidery magazine came with a free little Bunny kit hoop. This took about 15 minutes to put together but was fun. I like embroidery hoops like this. This will be added to our Easter decorations when they go up next month.

I have a few craft kits waiting to be made and thought it was about time I stitched the Pretty Fabrics & Trims huswif kit (I think this was a birthday present last year). I’ve always wanted my own huswif so thought I should start with the easy bit, the embroidered front cover. This then got put aside as the rest of it looks more challenging – sometimes I just want something easy to do.

The Floral Felt Easter Egg decorations was another birthday present from Pretty Fabrics & Trims. I love working with felt so this is my current project. There are four felt eggs to stitch, this should be easy to finish and display next month.

My daughter and I went back to Wick & Ceramic, our local pottery studio, to paint the items we had made at the Mini JellyCat Inspired Clay Workshop. These will be glazed and fired again before we can collect them. One of the items I made is a Mothers Day gift (better late than never!).

I finished reading The Lost Dresses of Italy by M.A.McLaughlin, an historical novel with a dual timeline, set around the discovery of three dresses worn by the poet Christina Rossetti on a visit to northern Italy in the 1860s. I always enjoy an historical novel, even better when combined with textiles.
