Back to work outfit with Simply Be

There have been a few culture shocks for me since I started my new job. Swapping the life of a freelance blogger to work in a school is strange, not least because there is a dress code at work. I’ve swapped my mum uniform of jeans and jumper for interview smart which has been a bit of a shock. Thankfully Simply Be came to my rescue, offering me the chance to style an outfit for my Autumn wardrobe. Back to work outfit with Simply Be Autumn is easily my favourite season. I love wearing layers, going for walks in the…

    Paper plate snowdrop sun catcher

I absolutely love snowdrops. In fact I love any Spring flower, they are such a welcome sight after the gloom of Winter. We’ve been so excited to spot the snowdrops and crocuses popping up that we thought we would try and re-create the snowdrops at home. We actually spotted our first snowdrops when we visited Barrington Court in December, but now we have spotted them closer to home too. Mindful stitching with the Winter Craftpod box

Before Christmas I received the Winter Craftpod box. This is my favourite subscription box at the moment. It comes quarterly which means I actually have time to make what’s inside and enjoy it! What was inside the Winter Craftpod box? There were two Winter crafts – a sweet stitching project to embroider Winterberries in a small hoop, and a stamp making kit. There was also a postcard by Jamilla Beukema, a sheet of stickers by Nastia Sleptsova, a Black Chai teabag and Vivani chocolate. I love receiving my Craftpod box, it really is something I look forward to opening. The first thing…

    Mini gingerbread house mug hangers

I’m not sure how many years ago I first Pinned a very cute little gingerbread house that sat on the edge of a cup. I fell in love with the idea but it remained an idea, it looked far too complicated to make at home! Fast forward a few years and just before Christmas I spotted a Make Your Own Gingerbread Cottage kit in Lakeland. I hardly every go to Lakeland. I find their products pretty expensive but I couldn’t resist this – finally a chance to make my own little gingerbread houses! Mini gingerbread house mug hangers This was…

How to make shortbread reindeer biscuits

There has been quite a lot of baking this Winter. Who doesn’t love baking? My kids love it too and it always results in some tasty tea-time treats. When we were food shopping one day, one of the children spotted a kit to make your own shortbread reindeer biscuits. We’ve wanted to make these for a while because we all know that reindeer are just gingerbread men upside down! I don’t have much experience of making shortbread as the whole family love gingerbread. But I was pretty happy to try this kit at home as we never have all the…

How to keep warm in winter

Photo by Alex Geerts on Unsplash The word Winter usually fills me with dread. What do you think of when you hear the word? Short days? Gloom? Cold? I think of all of these. I don’t mean to bring the mood down, but I can’t help it. I love Spring and Autumn (no hot sunny days for me please!) and I like to hurry through the Winter months with some crafting and a good book or two. Sun catcher mittens using recycled paper crowns

I don’t know about you but we went through a lot of Christmas crackers this year. My children just loved them so we had them on Christmas Eve with our North Pole breakfast, Christmas Day and Boxing Day too. My 7 year old decided only he could read out the jokes and my little magpie 6 year old pocketed all the little toys. I was happy to collect the paper crowns as I knew they would be perfect for a craft I’ve been meaning to try for a while. I love recycling little things and paper crowns are perfect. They…

    Handprint robin for winter

It doesn’t feel like we’ve made too many winter crafts this year. With a few days before Christmas though the children just want to make things which suits me. Everything is done and ready so that’s pretty much all I want to do too. We all love to watch the birds in our garden, especially a very friendly little robin, who inspired our handprint robins.
