    Vaccinations and the MMR

    A couple of weeks ago we took Edward for his 12 month jab. We were surprised to find that they now do the 12 and 13 month jabs together which meant he was due the MMR. I had taken my husband with me for moral support and we both decided we wanted time to think about whether Edward should have the MMR jab.     Reasons to be cheerful

        So many reasons to be cheerful this week: 1. Edward is better and back to his normal self. We’ve experienced our first bout of sickness and diarrhoea which was unpleasant. I’ve never done so much washing in Edward’s short life! Fortunately he’s fine and he’s eating home cooked food and sleeping well again. Phew. 2. One of my worries about giving up work was if I could stimulate Edward more than if he attended nursery. I’ve drawn up a list of local activities so there’s always something we can go out and do.     Christmas comes early

    When Edward was just three weeks old my husband had emergency surgery for a diverticular abcess. The pain came really quickly and was undiagnosed for a week before suddenly a blood test revealed what was wrong with him and he was rushed into hospital. It was a strange time in our life. We felt like we should be celebrating the safe arrival of our new baby whilst in reality we were separated and I was visiting my husband in hospital twice a day.
