    Monday happy things

Do you like Mondays? I’m coming to the conclusion that I love them. There’s something comforting to me about the start of our weekly routine and my favourite weekly post. I finished my ticker tape doll quilt and it’s now hanging up on our quilt gallery wall. It only took me an hour to finish the binding so I’m mentally kicking myself that I let it sit around unfinished for so long. Somehow I have over twenty three thousand followers on Pinterest! I’m not sure how that happened but I’m happy as I love Pinterest and Instagram too. I find…

    Another vintage dolls bed

I’ve been naughty and bought another vintage dolls bed for my daughter. We were out shopping in Pinner last week and I spotted a beautiful vintage dolls bed in an RSPCA charity shop. I have to admit that my daughter already has a couple of doll beds. In fact she has two she plays with, and there’s another two waiting to be painted in the spare room! Another vintage dolls bed I was trying to be good so I looked at it, thought it was very sweet in its original state, then walked way. We had lunch and I thought…

    Vintage toys and happy memories

I was charity shopping at the weekend which won’t be a surprise to my regular readers. I often like to share my vintage finds and have a great collection of vintage Fisher Price toys. I’m not quite sure what it is I like about them, but I love to collect them whenever I see one I don’t yet have. I’m a child of the 80s so as well as my Fisher Price toys I had a small collection of My Little Pony, some boxes of Technical Lego and a beautiful dolls house my grandfather made for me. My toy collection…

Our Summer holiday round up (Week 2)

The summer holidays are rushing by very quickly. I enjoyed looking back at the first week of the holidays so thought I would do it all again. Big Brother and I attended our last The Creation Station session. I’m not sure he realises he won’t be going again (due to starting Reception in September) but we’ve had a great time and enjoyed spending time together too. He also had a fun playdate with a friend from nursery. The weather was really hot so they played in the paddling pool and I think he enjoyed a little time away from us.…

Gingerbread house finds: vintage board games

I’ve been obsessed with vintage board games for a while now. Part of it is trying to re-create the games my grandparents kept in their wardrobe which we were allowed to play with when we visited. They had a great collection which included Tell Me, a metal wind up car racing game made in East Germany, a magnetic fishing and more, all stored in a green enamel bread bin. When they died I really wanted to take all of those with me, just to preserve the memories, but I couldn’t and I suppose I’ve regretted it ever since. What a…

    New Wings for Old Things

You all know that I love to visit charity shops and upcycle the things I find in them. When I heard about a new book produced by The Children’s Air Ambulance it sounded absolutely written for me and I had to share it with you. The book is called New Wings for Old Things: Sew, Stick, Splatter and Salvage and includes over 20 projects to change preloved pieces into vintage visions for your wardrobe, home and garden. The ethos behind it is encouraging people of all levels of crafting experience to upcycle preloved (or just unloved!) items knocking about at home or in…

    Gingerbread house finds

It’s been months since I’ve written about my favourite hobby but this weekend we’ve been away in Wiltshire which means fresh charity shopping hunting ground. The pickings have been pretty slim although I did find a Playmobil take along modern dolls house. We have a growing Playmobil addiction and I knew this would be great for storing our Playmobil and taking away with us. It was empty but only cost £4 and we have plenty of figures and furniture to fill it. I was surprised to see it’s still for sale and for a lot more than we paid for…

    New to me treasures

I’ve been having a great clear out over the weekend. We have a friend coming to stay which means we needed to clear out the spare room. It’s become a bit of a dumping ground so we spent a couple of hours sorting stuff out to sell or take to our local charity shop. I haven’t written here about our charity shopping exploits for a while. Since we’ve moved I have to admit to visiting our local charity shops more often as our local high street has lots of them, and there are not a lot of other shops to…

    Charity shop addiction

I may have lost my blogging mojo but I’m very glad I’ve still got my charity shop addiction. In fact I was very happy to be out straight after Christmas, especially as we were visiting my mum and she has some great shops where she lives. Over the last couple of weeks I’ve picked up some items which have been on my wish list, namely scrabble tiles for crafting, vintage buttons and even a toy bubble gum machine (which I filled with buttons!). We’ve been out today as the snow is slowly melting and I picked up a wooden dolls…
