I’ve been naughty and bought another vintage dolls bed for my daughter. We were out shopping in Pinner last week and I spotted a beautiful vintage dolls bed in an RSPCA charity shop. I have to admit that my daughter already has a couple of doll beds. In fact she has two she plays with, and there’s another two waiting to be painted in the spare room!

I was trying to be good so I looked at it, thought it was very sweet in its original state, then walked way. We had lunch and I thought about it and how it wasn’t *too* big, we could get it home on the bus…..and went back and bought it. It was bigger than I remembered but I paid my £4.50 and carried it home (albeit quite precariously with my son and little one in a pram).

It’s rather lovely with original vintage decals and a brilliant custard yellow colour. The husband only slightly raised his eyebrows (fortunately he’s used to me coming home with these kind of things) and I’m not going to touch it, other than with a damp cloth. I’ve previously painted another vintage dolls bed and ruined it don’t like it quite so much, so I’m going to leave this one. My children have been having lots of fun with their dolls and the new bed and it’s lucky I can’t stop making doll quilts for them!

The latest doll quilt literally took an hour because I used a fab cheater print from Pam Kitty Morning, I think it was Pam Kitty Buttons for the front and Pam Kitty Bouquet for the back. The two fabrics compliment each other perfectly and the floral is very Cath Kidston-esque. I won’t be making any more doll quilts for a while as I really want to make a start on some festive crafting.
