Simple clothes peg snowflake ornament tutorial

Posted on December 9, 2014October 25, 2020 by jenny

I have a really simple project to show you today – how to make a snowflake ornament from wooden clothes pegs. they are super sweet and make great decorations for indoors or outside.

How to make a simple clothes peg snowflake ornament:

You will need 8 wooden clothes pegs, a glue gun and silver paint.

The first step is to remove the metal spring from each clothes peg. When you have done that paint them, I chose silver and gave them two coats as my clothes pegs were a bit tatty.

Take the two pieces of a clothes peg and place them, flat sides facing each other, and glue them together. Do this 8 times.

Then you need to start putting your snowflake together. Take 4 of your clothes pegs and add a small dot of glue to the angled edge of each side and join them together making an X shape.

Then add the remaining 4 clothes pegs in each join with more glue. This needs to be done quite quickly as the glue dries fast! Then leave your snowflake to dry on a flat surface.

I wanted to hang my ornament so threaded some bakers twine through one of the holes. You could also use them to decorate a wrapped gift or as part of a larger wreath decoration. I must get my thinking cap on as they are so simple to make and a great way to upcycle clothes pegs

That’s really effective. I would spray it or paint it silver and hang it on my tree.
