September saw the kids go back to school and, although I was glad to get back to our school routine, I felt like I had less time to make. I’m not sure if this was true but it definitely feels like our calendar is full to bursting. It didn’t stop me stocking up on craft kits at The Works – they have a great selection!
September crafting
The first thing I picked up was Love Embroidery magazine issue 44 which included a free embroidery kit designed by Georgie Emery. It featured a gingerbread house on pre-printed fabric, as well as an embroidery hoop and all the threads needed to finish the scene. This is something I haven’t finished yet but I’m glad to have started.
September was the month I started my 365 stitches embroidery hoop and I have to admit it is hard to keep up with one stitched picture a day.
My daughter is taking a Textiles class in school so I have been helping her to learn her embroidery stitches. She recently finished her first embroidery hoop and I’m glad it has given her some confidence in class.
I have lots of birthdays coming up so I spent some time stitching my sister’s birthday present as I love to give a handmade gift. I also started stitching something for my mum’s birthday in December.
Finally I got round to painting the vintage wooden dolls clothes washer I bought a few years ago. It was painted a horrible bright orange, so I gave it a more suitable colour. I can’t wait to use for my photos.
