Pride in the Quarter Trail London

Pride in the Quarter Trail London

The Pride in the Quarter Trail is a free public art trail in London celebrating the summer of international football. Running from 1st June to 10th August across the London Heritage Quarter, you can discover 17 artist-designed lions and lionesses on a self guided walking trail through iconic landmarks and green spaces.

We had some free time before a trip to the theatre so decided to see how many sculptures we could spot. We stuck to the area around Trafalgar Square which is a really interesting place to explore with some green spaces. It was a great way to find those hidden pockets that tourists don’t usually bother to find, such as this one in Whitehall Gardens.

We walked under Charing Cross Station to Victoria Embankment Gardens where we found Vic. Each sculpture has been painted by a different artist, and they will be auctioned to raise funds in support of The Passage when the trail finishes.

Not all of the sculptures are outside and we visited two local hotels to find some of the sculptures – this one was in the Royal Horseguards Hotel.

And this was in Great Scotland Yard Hotel, which had great displays of historical figures and items associated with the early police force in the hotel foyer.

My favourite sculpture was called Together We Roar and situated in Trafalgar Square. Inspired by iconic victories from England’s Lionesses and Three Lions teams, the artwork combines football history with scenes of everyday community and contemporary London life.

The trail ends on the 10th August so catch it whilst you can.
