I love adding a few new personalised decorations each year. I wanted to use my Cricut to personalise some wooden blanks I bought from Hobbycraft. A lick of paint and some black vinyl was all that was needed to make these cute personalised pumpkin decoration for kids.
Equipment used:
Wooden blank pumpkin shapes from Hobbycraft
Paint
Cricut Maker
Cricut StandardGrip mat
Cricut Black Vinyl
Cricut Transfer Tape
Easy personalised pumpkin decoration for kids
The wooden blanks had a design on one side so I flipped them over, lightly marked a pencil line three quarters of the way up and painted the lower part of each pumpkin. The paint was a small tester pot from Wickes called Lions Mane. I set them aside to dry.
Whilst they were drying I prepared the vinyl to place on each pumpkin. I opened Cricut Design Space and created a new project. I chose a font, Cricut Sans Normal, and typed in the words I wanted. I used my children’s names, and measured the pumpkin shape to make sure the words would fit in a central position.
Then I placed the black vinyl on a StandardGrip mat and set the Cricut machine to cut the text.
I removed the vinyl from the StandardGrip mat, trimmed the vinyl and weeded the excess away before adding Transfer Tape to each name.
Then I carefully measured where I wanted each word to be placed, removed the film and pressed over the transfer tape with a scraper to make sure the vinyl would adhere to the wooden pumpkin.
Then I was able to carefully remove the transfer tape to reveal the name.
What do you think? The mustard tone is a favourite of mine and makes a great colourway for Autumnal decorations. These will go in our Halloween crate, along with some Halloween treats and a film to enjoy over Halloween.
