Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while although now I’m moved it to Sunday. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to sit down and write. Sunday Happy Things {Week 436} Last week was half term and we were all looking forward to a break and spending some time together. We enjoyed a few days away at an amazing airbnb in Gosport…

Portsmouth Dockyard or Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is made up of a number of different attractions, including HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and the Mary Rose Museum. We thought it sounded like a great place to explore with the kids and spent a few days exploring Portsmouth Dockyard with kids. Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is an area of HM Naval Base Portsmouth which is open to the public. It contains several historic buildings and ships. We found the ticket options really complicated but the kids used their Blue Peter badges for free entry whilst we purchased annual passes. These tickets included all the…

I discovered the author Kate Morton a few years ago when I read The Clockmakers Daughter and I’ve never looked back. She is one of my favourite authors and I always look forward to her latest book. Thanks to NetGalley I was able to read an advanced copy of her new book, Homecoming. I finished it in a few days! Homecoming by Kate Morton {book review} Adelaide Hills, Christmas Eve, 1959. At the end of a scorching hot day, beside a creek in the grounds of a grand and mysterious mansion, a local delivery man makes a terrible discovery. A…

Are you making anything at the moment? I had a burst of energy earlier in the month and have now fallen into a bit of a slump, searching for my next project. For the last few years I’ve been keeping a list of my crafty projects on the homepage of my blog. It helps remind me of all the craft kits I have (so I definitely don’t need to buy any more!) and I love to see them crossed off over the year. As it’s currently National Embroidery Month I wanted to offer my readers the chance to win 1…

I love to share the books I’ve been reading. I’ve read some great fiction which I’ve been sharing but today I have a gorgeous craft book to share. I recently mentioned I had tried macramé for the first time. What is macramé? Macramé is a form of textile produced using knotting techniques. It’s been around for a long time and uses string or macramé cord. It’s done by hand which makes it a great, mindful craft. Macramé Jewellery {book review} I really enjoyed trying macramé recently. It’s fun to try something new and I liked the idea that you can…
