We all know that children need positive role models which is why I’m keen to encourage my daughter in her love of Doc McStuffins. They are currently learning all about ‘people who help us’ at school and she has been able to tell everyone about Doctors, thanks to Doc McStuffins! Dottie ‘Doc’ McStuffins, a six year old girl, ‘fixes’ toys, with a little help from her stuffed animal friends, Stuffy, Hallie, Lambie and Chilly. This year, Doc has been transported to McStuffinsville to become the Chief Resident of the Toy Hospital, where she and her toy friends will help toys…

This year my son started Year 2 and although he is a really good reader he doesn’t show any interest in reading chapter books on his own. We’ve been working our way through the Roald Dahl books together at bedtime but nothing seemed to hook him in enough to stay up late reading on his own. Star Wars Reads Day For the past few weeks I have been searching for any information on Star Wars Reads Day. Star Wars Reads Day is an international campaign to celebrate and encourage children to read. Last year we received a wonderful bundle of…

I’ve been needing to inject a bit more colour into our living room. I had some Orla Kiely wrapping paper left over and thought it would be perfect for updating our little stool. A while ago I painted it with a Miffy face but it’s been looking a little sad, definitely in need of some TLC. I gathered my supplies: Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Emperor’s Silk and a paint brush. I love using Chalk Paints as you don’t need to do any prep! I simply covered the legs and underneath of the stool in two coats of paint and…

There’s been a mix up! The Twozies have lost their pet friends. Now they need your help to come together again! Find and match the babies with their pet friends and display them in the cute shadow boxes (sold separately). Twozies are the new collectible babies and pets from Moose Toys and Character Options, who do everything Two-gether when matched. Yes, for every baby Twozie that children collect, there is a sweet little matching pet to be found! My daughter reviewed Twozies Fun Two-Gether Playsets and Surprise Bags last month and I am delighted to be able to offer some…

It’s not often I encourage the children to play with their food but today they could. This evening we were invited to our local Pizza Express restaurant to create a ‘ghoulish pizza’ design from the ingredients on the menu. The children couldn’t believe their luck to be shown to a table with aprons and their very own Pizza Express hats. They were given pizza bases and shown how to cover it with tomato sauce. Then they chose some ingredients from the kitchen to create the scariest pizzas they could. A few ingredients may have been eaten along the way… …

We’re a family who love being outdoors and often take a picnic out with us. I like to know exactly what my children are eating and the whole family seem to enjoy the way I make lunch! My youngest started school last month and has been taking a packed lunch every day. She loves having a lunch break with all her friends and thankfully her lunch box is always empty at the end of the day. I’ve had a few years’ practice perfecting the art of the packed lunch and have become quite quick at whipping up a healthy packed…

As Playmobil Playologists we were excited to receive some toys from the PLAYMOBIL Hospital range to review. Playmobil is a top manufacturer within preschool toys and my children get hours of enjoyment from their Playmobil collection. My children like the City Life range. You may remember last year we reviewed the Sunshine Playschool which is part of the range. Needless to say our new additions go really well with this toy. Playmobil City Life – Emergency Medical Helicopter (6686) My son loves playing with vehicles and was happy to see the Children’s Hospital Emergency Medical Helicopter. He insisted on building…

Every year we try and take the children to a Bonfire Night celebration. Bonfire Night is an important event in British history and I want my children to understand the meaning behind events such as this. I always think that crafting and making reinforces the things we are talking about at home which is why we crafted our own paper bonfire! We used: Cardboard tubes Brown tissue paper Bostik White Glu Paper plate + black paint Orange and yellow tissue paper How to make a Bonfire Night craft with kids First we painted a paper plate with black paint. This…

Now that my children are both at school full time I have found crafting is the perfect way for them to wind down after school. I love sitting at the table and talking with them about their day. I find they seem to remember more when their hands are occupied and it’s so much more interesting than the usual “can’t remember” or “don’t know!”. It’s feeling much more autumnal this week and I’ve started to hang a few Halloween decorations around the house. We love to celebrate the seasons so were very happy to receive a box of Halloween craft…
