This weekend we will be taking part in the annual St George’s Day Parade as both my children are members of Beaver Scouts. Did you know that St George was the Patron Saint of Scouting? I thought it would be fun to make a special St George’s Day painted rock to hide somewhere near where the parade is taking place. St George’s Day painted rock Uniball kindly sent us a supply of Posca pens just in time for the Easter holidays. We took them away with us and the children enjoyed painting some rocks whilst we were away. My 8…

On our way home from our week in Norfolk we stopped off at the breath-taking village of Castle Acre. The other day I told you about our visit to the ruins of Castle Acre Castle which was the perfect place for my children to run off some energy. We also explored Castle Acre Bailey Gate, the Norman planned streets of Castle Acre village, as well as the ruins of Castle Acre Priory. There is so much to see and do in Castle Acre that it is well worth a visit. Castle Acre Priory Castle Acre Priory was a Cluniac priory, dedicated to St Mary, St…

Last month we were so excited to get our hands on the brand new LOL Pearl Surprise toy. My daughter just loves LOL Surprise! toys and it’s not difficult to see why. They are a great collectible toy and so much fun to unwrap and play with. LOL Pearl Surprise The LOL Pearl Surprise is a super large toy. It comes with 6 pearl surprise balls full of goodies, a limited-edition Doll and Lil Sister, a huge bath fizzer and a shell-shaped stand to display your doll in. What’s more, when you’ve unboxed your toy you can re-use the glitter case as…

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a great weekend. My children are back at school after a lovely 2 week break. I love starting off each week by writing my Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as record some of our family adventures, and one which I always enjoy writing. Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things We’ve just got back from an amazing week in North Norfolk. It’s an area I already knew quite well but we hadn’t been back…

My children are big fans of superheroes. Did you know that the third Avengers film is due for release at the end of the month? Titled Avengers: Infinity War, it follows The Avengers (2012) and The Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). Set a few years about the second Guardians of the Galaxy film, it unites the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy plus even more Marvel superheroes! Avengers Infinity War Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet – the evil Thanos (you may remember him from a teaser in the end…

After a pretty cold week I’m pretty sure the weather is supposed to be getting warmer and drier. Such a late Spring has really affected our garden and it is pretty devoid of colour. Thankfully our roses have sprung into life, they are one of my favourite plants, and I love watching them cover our back wall. They’ve inspired our latest craft activity – using colourful wool and lots of glue to make pretty yarn wrapped flowers. We didn’t do much crafting whilst we were away. We had fun with sticker books and decorated some painted rocks but nothing like…

We’ve spent the last week in North Norfolk and have had some amazing days out. Today we visited the pretty village of Castle Acre which is packed full of historical places and well worth a visit. We started off at the ruins of Castle Acre itself, I’m going to write about Castle Acre Priory in another post. Read on for my top 5 reasons to visit Castle Acre Castle with kids. Castle Acre is a rare and complete survival of a Norman planned settlement, including a castle, village, parish church and one of the best-preserved monastic sites in England, Castle Acre Priory.…

We’ve had some amazing meals out whilst we’ve been away. We have a strict no phones or iPads rule whenever we eat out. I really dislike seeing families eating out where no one talks to each other! This may not work for everyone but it works for us. I always make sure to pack some cards or a small game. We had a really lovely meal at The Golden Fleece in Wells next the Sea (the New York Deli pizza is sooo good!) and I packed a copy of Dot Art: Sticker Safari by Yoni Alter to keep us all…

A few weeks ago my son had his 8th birthday and we held a Minecraft themed birthday party for him at home. I needed something to hold all the prizes as we had organised a lot of games to keep the children busy. I thought a Minecraft chest would be perfect and it was really easy to make. I love ot craft with Duck Tape so thought I would share how I made it in case it’s useful. Equipment used: Brown paper Cardboard box Black and Silver Duck Tape Double sided tape How to make a Duck Tape Minecraft Chest…
