On Sunday we will be marking Remembrance Sunday here in the UK, which falls on the second Sunday in November. Remembrance Day marks the day the First First World War ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918. A two-minute silence is held at 11am to remember the people who have died in wars. Although the children learn about Remembrance Day at school I think it is important to talk about it at home too. My Great Uncle died in the First World War so we look at photographs and talk about him at this time of year. Over the…

My children are full of the Christmas spirit. They have designed their own Christmas cards at school, been practicing for their Christmas assemblies and keep changing their minds about what to put on their Christmas lists. It’s really exciting to see Christmas through their eyes. Both my children (and us adults!) love Lego. This year we added the Lego Gingerbread House to our collection, and soon it will be time to get our other Christmas Lego sets out. It’s just not Christmas without Lego! {Free printable} Santa’s Workshop Lego Challenge I have a free gift for all my readers today,…

AD | norma&dorothy gifted us these items for our Christmas gift guide It’s time to mention the C word. This year I started my Christmas shopping really early. Every year I get really stressed so started even earlier this year and have most of the presents and gifts hidden away. I’ve actually enjoyed shopping around, I think because I’ve taken my time and looked for gifts I think people will like. Every family has some family members who are difficult to buy for. This year I was introduced to norma&dorothy who sell beautiful personalised cards, stationary and gifts. They kindly let…

I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing. Monday Happy List {Week 264} Last week was so much fun and the children just loved celebrating Halloween. They both went to parties at Beavers and Cubs which they enjoyed. Big Brother made a Minecraft inspired Jack O’Lantern head which got lots of comments when we went out Trick or…

We love the month of November as it’s my daughters birthday! She’s super excited and has been counting down the days for a while. Her birthday falls on the same day that Thanksgiving is celebrated so I thought it would be fun to pull together a round up on Thanksgiving Turkey crafts for kids. Since 1939 Thanksgiving has been celebrated as a federal holiday, celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November. We’ve already shared a few fun Thanksgiving crafts, including our Rolo Turkey Pretzels treats and our Pilgrim Hat cookies. These make great treats if you are having guests over…

I’ve been sent some lovely books to review recently. I always love to share books as we are a family of bookworms. Hopefully the books I feature on my blog will inspire some of your Christmas wishlists or even purchases for family and friends! Craftfulness – mend yourself by making things The first book was Craftfulness – mend yourself by making things by Arzu Tahsin and Rosemary Davidson. What is that unique feeling that goes hand-in-hand with making something from scratch? Do you ever wonder where the time goes when you’re lost in drawing or working with clay? Are you happiest when…

Image credit Concern over climate change has never felt more pressing, especially living in London. Two million people – including 400,000 children – are living with illegal air pollution levels in London every day. It’s hoped the new ULEZ, electrified transport and other schemes will help solve this, but in the meantime there’s loads of simple ways you and your kids can do your little bit to live green in London. 7 Easy Ways to Live Green in London Trade up transport Chances are if you live further into central London, you don’t often drive anyway. London has some of…

You all know how much we love subscription boxes. There’s nothing better than a box of treats delivered to your door, especially when most of my mail comes in a little brown envelope. Over the last few years we’ve tried a few of the Japan Candy Box and they never fail to delight. In case you haven’t come across it before, this is a delicious monthly subscription box filled with 8-10 sweet treats from Japan. We recently received the October 2019 Japan Candy Box Trick or Treat box. Everything came neatly packed in a cardboard box and the children literally…

I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing. Monday Happy List {Week 263} Our half term adventures are now over and the kids are back at school. We had a lovely time visiting family and friends and did some of our favourite things, like swimming and playing on the beach. The weather wasn’t too bad and we’ve really…
