Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to sit down and write.
Monday Happy Things {Week 413}
I’m sure I can’t be the only person who felt unsettled last week. Not only did my children start their new school year but we had a change of Prime Minister followed by the death of the Queen. It was a strange week for everyone.
I went to our local garden centre with my mum and chose some autumnal plants for the garden. The hot summer meant a lot of our plants didn’t do as well as I hoped. Our sunflowers were over quickly and we barely got any fruit or vegetables from our strawberry, tomato or runner beans.
My daughter was chosen as class librarian which she was very pleased about. She is a real book worm so this seems like the perfect job for her to do. She was happy that her after school clubs started up again and enjoyed a muddy cross country run, karate and Cubs.
I’ve been working on the Eva Verbruggen tapestry project from my latest Hoop Club subscription box which is very calming. The colours are really pretty and it’s fun to sew with wool threads.
I’ve been reading the latest Jessie Burton book, a sequel to The Miniaturist called The House of Fortune. It is set 18 years after The Miniaturist and follows the fortune of Thea Brandt, the daughter of Otto and Marin. So far it’s really good and I look forward to reading it each night.
