Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to write.
Monday Happy Things {Week 377}
We have really enjoyed the Christmas holidays with plenty of time to spend together. We’ve read books, watched films, played board games and baked pretzels. We’ve planted seeds from our Mud and Bloom subscription box. We’ve ticked off lots of jobs that needed doing and taken the dog on lots of adventure walks.
There was plenty of time for some days out and we went to Windsor for the day as the children had never been before. It’s a smallish town so it was perfect for exploring and we even managed to catch the Changing of the Guard. The guards march from Victoria Barracks up the High Street and into Windsor Castle at different times each week. The best places to see them are on the High Street but we stood on the Corn Exchange under Windsor Guildhall to watch, then rushed round to Castle Hill to watch then enter the Castle.
We’ve been taking part in the 12 Days Wild and it’s been fun getting out and about each day. We walk the dog a lot but it’s also given us the chance to try different things, such as a muddy outdoor scavenger hunt in the woods.
Another day was spent exploring the pretty market town of Marlborough. We enjoyed a pub lunch and walked around Silbury Hill and went goecaching. It had been a while since we last visited and it felt so good to be back somewhere familiar.
Unsurprisingly I didn’t do as much sewing as I thought although I’ve made a good start on my Merry and Bright mini quilt kit.
Happy New Year!

January 5, 2022 at 3:52 pmIt’s good to know that the changing of the guards is back at Windsor. I visited the castle and the town last year and the parade was suspended due to the pandemic.
