Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to write.
Monday Happy List {Week 354}
I am so thankful that we have made it to the Summer holidays without any bubbles bursting. My son managed to finish Year 6 and enjoy all kinds of fun in his last week including signing his Leavers Yearbook, wearing his Leavers hoodie and taking his Grade 1 Clarinet exam! My daughter finished Year 4 too.
The last few weeks of term are loads of fun and we made sure to enjoy every second as this time last year we were all stuck at home with home learning. My daughter enjoyed a wide game at Cubs with chips at the pub afterwards. My son enjoyed a weekend of camping with Scouts and even managed to bag a trophy for winning some of the activities at camp.
As my son was away at camp we wanted my daughter to have some fun too. So she had a school friend over for her first sleepover! We stocked up on sweets so they could have a midnight feast and took them on a long walk in the hope of tiring them out. Needless to say they were still up at 1.30 in the morning when I persuaded them to go to sleep.
We took part in our street quiz on Saturday. During the past 18 months our street has really been looking out for one another and we’ve been coming together for all kinds of fun events. We won the street trophy last time but unfortunately we had to make do with 3rd place this time. It’s always fun to do a quiz and we enjoyed tea and cakes too.
Yesterday I popped into London for another sewing workshop at Ray Stitch in Angel. It was strange going on the tube but amazing to visit Upper Street and spend a few hours sewing. The Introduction to Machine Sewing Part 2 – Essential Skills was a follow on from the other course I did and I learned all about making darts, pleats and putting in an invisible zip.
I am so ready for the first week of the Summer holidays!

July 27, 2021 at 8:22 amWell done on completing year six without bursting the bubble. Our year 6 bubble burst in March I think but thankfully as the person that had it had stayed at home soon after feeling ill the kids didn’t need to be home too long.

July 27, 2021 at 2:52 pmIt looks like your entire family had a busy but fun week. I have been to London quite a few times during the past weeks and indeed, it felt strange. Mostly because it is so busy now, almost back to normal.
