Simple and budget-friendly ways to add elegance to your home

Do you dream of panelled walls, glittering chandeliers and private swimming pools? When it comes to decorating our homes, we all have long lists of “wants”, but if you’re decorating on a budget these wants are difficult to prioritise and fund.

Simple and budget-friendly ways to add elegance

However, that doesn’t have to mean that your dream of an elegant and luxurious home is out of reach. Did you know that there are dozens of ways to make your home appear expensive and opulent all within your budget? Let’s explore some simple and cost-effective ways to add a touch of elegance to your home.

Upgrade Your Lighting

It’s easy to get carried away with expensive décor and accessories when creating an elegant home, however, it’s the fundamental features of your property that can help set the tone for opulence and luxury. Upgrading your lighting to LED spotlights or surface mounted spotlights can transform your living space effortlessly, allowing you to set the tone and the mood of your home with the flick of a switch.

Good lighting makes a difference in any home, and while it’s tempting to install a glittering chandelier to mimic style and luxury, the right accent lighting can do all the hard work for you, whilst effectively lighting your home and increasing comfort levels.

Decluttering Is Essential

If there’s one thing you won’t find in a luxury home, it’s clutter. Believe it or not, if you want your home to emulate a stylish and luxurious property, one of the biggest changes you can make is simply removing all the junk and clutter that plagues your shelves, drawers, floors and surfaces. Decluttering room by room is a good place to start – you may find that you have more room than you first thought!

Window Dressings Are A Must

Window dressings should complement the rooms in your home, effortlessly. Not only do they add style and make a home look “finished” but they also give you some much-needed privacy. Consider what the most practical window dressings are for you and your family. Curtains may make your living spaces a little too dark and cluttered, if so consider stylish blinds and shades instead. Neutral tones will complement any decorating you have in mind with muted colour palettes that give a soft hue or a dramatic finish to your home.

A Fresh Coat of Paint

Sometimes, a quick freshen up can breathe new life and elegance into your home, effortlessly. Or perhaps you’re wanting to remove a bold, bright colour and replace it with something neutral and bright. Updating your walls with calming colours means you can inject more of your personality into your home accessories and your furniture choices.

Add Fresh Flowers

Nothing says opulence and elegance more than vases of fresh flowers placed throughout your home. They add a pop of colour, freshness and calm to your home. If fresh flowers are out of your budget, invest in some elegant vases and opt for handmade blooms instead.

Final thoughts…

Creating an elegant home on a budget is easy when you have the right knowledge. Consider these points above to transform your home, today.
