Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to write. Today both my children went back to the classroom and we couldn’t be happier! However last week was all about our last week of home learning and celebrating World Book Day.
Monday Happy List {Week 334}
As a family that loves to read World Book Day is an important part of the year. It’s a great excuse to read more books and discover new authors. As my youngest has been reading Varjak Paw we decided to make some yummy Varjak Paw inspired cupcakes! We also spent a lot of the week making our very own Book Nooks. My youngest made hers inspired by The Danger Gang by Tom Fletcher, and took hers into school today to show her class.
I have been baking a lot over the last 2 months and last week made School dinner cake. It’s a cake I enjoyed when I was at secondary school and it was fun to make for my own kids.
Last week we took part in not one, but two, virtual audiences for tv shows. I don’t know why I didn’t explore the idea sooner but I signed up for a few different tv shows. Last week we were lucky to get tickets for QI and the Graham Norton Show. In reality it meant sitting in our living room with all the sounds we made being recorded! The children were not happy at having to sit in silence, or take themselves to bed, but it was a fun experience.
Our local Duck Pond food market re-started yesterday and we were so happy. We went off early in the morning and picked up amazing sourdoughs, fresh meat and some delicious treats. It felt so good to see some of our favourite traders and buy locally produced food again.
I got picked as a pattern tester for my favourite modern embroidery brand! I love embroidery and it’s lovely to get the chance to stitch something a little different. Although there is some precious to stitch neatly it kinda feels nice to embroidery things I wouldn’t choose for myself.
Our lockdown journal is completed and I have packed away the children’s piles of paper from home learning. Hopefully that is the end of that chapter and we can enjoy the next. Have a great week!

March 9, 2021 at 8:57 pmWe totally love World Book Day but was gutted that my children’s schools did not celebrate it this year due to homeschooling. That cake looks super tasty as well.
