Monday Happy List

Monday Happy List: Life in Lockdown {Week 8}

Coronavirus door step photography portrait

I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s usually a post I love to write but obviously life has changed considerably for us and everyone else in the UK over the last few weeks. Life is strange at the moment for everyone but I still want to try and record some of our happier moments.

Monday Happy List {Week 292}

Like the previous weeks of lockdown, home learning gives shape to our weeks. Our school has been amazing at providing the children with a weekly timetable to follow. Every morning we do Maths and English followed by topics. We have been doing lots about Ancient Greece and plants! I sit with my children until they’ve finished their work and then we have fun with science experiments, making papier mache models, making slime or playing with our fairy garden. Last week we even made a 3D model of a Greek Temple.

6 month old Bichon Frise with first haircut

Our puppy turned 27 weeks. He’s been a bit naughty recently and over the weekend he ate some chocolate covered raisins! Luckily my son saw what happened so we rushed the dog to the vet and they sorted him out. As part of the lockdown measures being relaxed our dog groomer re-opened and we were first in line! It was our poor puppy’s first trip for a full wash and cut. He came out looking like a different dog and it took us a few days to get used to being able to see his face.

geocaching with kids

We’ve been on some lovely walks exploring the local area. We’ve lived in this part of London for 7 years but there are so many places we haven’t been to. Last week we visited Denham Country Park and Cranford Park for the first time. We also did a lot of geocaching, using GPS to look for small containers. We even bought the children their own geocaching trackables which they were really excited to hide.

My kids have taken part in a few online meetings via Zoom or Google Meet. Last week they both took part in their first Zoom Cubs meeting which they both loved. They wore their uniform as it was an official meeting and it was good for them to see their friends. We have been doing Cubs badges at home too but it was fun for them to see everyone.

On 12th May we decided to take part in the call from the Mass Observation Archive to keep a one day diary. We’ve been keeping our Coronavirus Diaries since lockdown started so this felt like something fun to do. We kept a dairy all day of what we were doing and feeling, then submitted it to them to keep. It was all anonymous but I thought it would be nice to be part of something. We also got the photos from our recent special ”door-trait’ door step photo session with Jenny at Tiny Shoots Photography.

Have a great week everyone.

    We need to try geocaching, it looks like such a lot of fun! Oh no – sounds stressful having to rush the dog to the vets but at least you knew it had happened so could get treatment so quickly.

    We’ve had work from school too but it’s hard to keep on top of it all. I wish they’d do zoom lessons instead it would make it so much easier.

    Oh gosh! I am glad the puppy is ok! They are such cheeky rascals! I remember when our dog ate some chocolate biscuits I had accidentally left on the side, fortunately she was ok, but they don’t half make us worry! Glad to hear your school have been on it with regards to work! Sim x

    Its very ineresting that they are doing Zoom meetings, it seems to be very popular at the moment and i wonder how many other places will begin to use this more.

    It sounds like you’ve got this homeschooling thing down to a fine art at the moment. Your poor doggo though, I’m glad you managed to get him to the vet x

    what a lovely doorstep photo. We did one too. I bet your pup is much happier after a haircut. I’ve never done geocaching – must give it a go.

    My sister has a bichon frise and she brings a lot of happiness to her life, too! Dogs really are a man’s best friend.

    How wonderful that kids are still doing their zoom meetings and staying in touch with their friends. Happy birthday to your pup who has turned 27 weeks old as well!

    Our puppy getting chocolate is one my biggest worries, glad that he was ok and that the vets were able to sort it quickly.

    Sounds like you’ve got the homeschooling thing down – I know it’s so hard for some parents right now to combine homeschooling with still working from home x
