Every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new with each of the cover gifts.
I have to confess that I’m still struggling to finish off the Starburst Sampler from the Mollie Makes Patchwork Project Book which came with issue 65. I’m enjoying making the EPP diamonds but lacking in time at the moment. It’s nearly finished….
Anyway, the cover gift with issue 66 was a Mollie Makes Crochet Flower Pincushion kit – including 3 colours of crochet yarn and a 3mm crochet hook.
Unfortunately, like a few other cover gifts, the instructions were impossible to follow for me. So, with a little help from my mum, I made up a different pattern.
It’s made in two pieces and you could take the top piece and back it with felt to make a brooch. I carried on to make the back but sadly ran out of enough yarn to crochet it in one colour, instead it’s made with two!
However the mint and pink colours are gorgeous. And I’ve never had a crochet pin cushion before…
