We are on full on Christmas crafting mode at the gingerbread house. It’s always fun to get out homemade projects, but I’m always happy to add more. This year we’ve made some crochet mini wreath ornaments which are great for popping on the tree. Read on for the full tutorial.

How to crochet a mini wreath ornament
Make a slip knot and chain 12.
Now make a slip stitch into the first chain to make a base loop or base ring of our crochet wreath.
Chain 1.
Work a single crochet into the loop.
Continue to work SC into the base loop.
Work a total of 23 SC into the base loop. Insert your hook into the very first sc and make slip stitch to end this round.
Chain 1.
Work 1 DC into the next stitch.
3 DC into the next same space.
Work 1 HDC into the next space.
Now make a slip stitch into the next space.
Repeat this pattern around the base, (1 HDC, 3 DC, 1 HDC, slip stitch).
Don’t cut the yarn, work chain 15.
Make slip stitch back into the same stitch there and cut off the yarn.
Stitch the remaining yarn tail the backside of the crochet wreath pattern. Prepare a piece of red yarn and draw it through the wreath pattern, from the front. Keep 2 inches extra tail at the front end.
Work running stitch around the wreath and bring the other end near the first tail. Tie a small tail bow with the open ends of the yarn.
I made two, thinking they would make fun ear-rings for our Christmas party! But you can use them to add a touch of colour to a present or even hang from your tree.
