Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while. This is my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I love to sit down and write.
Five Happy Things {Week 475}
Last week we played a lot of Poetry for Neanderthals – Not Safe for Work Edition. This is a grown up game (definitely not for kids) and we enjoyed playing it.
I’ve been trying to read more in the evenings and last week started and finished The Christmas Appeal by Janice Hallett. Set in the same village as The Appeal, it was a novella and the perfect, easy read. I really loved reading it and would recommend it to fans of her other books. That was the 28th book I’ve read this year, I’m not sure I’m going to reach the target I set on Goodreads for the 2023 Reading Challenge.
My Christmas gift guide will be packed full of the most delicious gingerbread products I’ve sourced during my working week (when it’s finished). I seem to have been buying gingerbread themed products for weeks, but have had no time to put it into a blog post. I only write one gift guide and hopefully it will be live this week.
We enjoyed a brisk walk around Rickmansworth Aquadrome this morning. The weather was slightly sunny and it was great to be outdoors in it. We also looked for a couple of geocaches whilst the dog stared at all the local birds.
With Christmas fast approaching I’ve been working on some personalised embroidery hoop gift tags to brighten up gift bags. They are so much fun to make and should look great on the tree when the presents have been opened.

I feel like a night of Poetry for Neanderthals along with some booze would be an absolutely fantastic time.
Yes, as long as it’s adults only 🙂
Your happy things articles always make me smile – thank you! Adore the idea of creating your own gift bag tags through embroidery – definitely a labor of love.
At least this way everyone gets something small and handmade!
Poetry for Neanderthals sounds like fun – I might have to get this for us adults so we can have some laughs in the evenings.
How do you know where to look for geocaches? I have always had a bit of an interest but don’t know where to start.
Download the official geocaching app and make an account – it makes our walks a lot more fun!
I can’t wait to see your personalized embroidery hoop gift tags finished. Poetry for Neanderthals sounds interesting, I will check this out!
What a delightful Monday Happy List! 🌟 Playing Poetry for Neanderthals sounds like a blast, and congrats on reaching your 28th book this year! 📚 The Christmas Appeal novella sounds like the perfect cozy read, and I can’t wait for your gingerbread-packed gift guide! 🎁🍪 And nothing beats a brisk walk around Rickmansworth Aquadrome with a bit of geocaching – nature therapy at its finest!
It looks like you had a lovely week. The embroidery tags sound really nice as does the poetry.
I’ve seen the Christmas appeal in a few shops lately so I may need to check it out as I want to read all festive books next month. Sounds like a good week x
I don’t read many Christmassy books but this was really fun!
Sounds like a very nice week ahead of the busy holiday season. It’s even busier for us across the pond with Thanksgiving underway. I cannot wait to see your holiday gift guides 🙂
Reading books is amazing pastime. It gives you time to calm, find peace, and reflect.
Kudos on reaching the 28th book this year, even if the Goodreads challenge seems a bit elusive. Your upcoming gingerbread-themed gift guide has me eagerly awaiting the holidays!
It looks like you had a great week. The embroidery tags looks really so nice. Would love to see your gift guide.
