Did you know that today is National Dog Day? I didn’t until I received lots of emails about it from people trying to sell me something this morning. We’ve had our Bichon Frise for 7 months now and although having a puppy is a lot of hard work, we wouldn’t be without him. Today seemed the right day to share our Bichon Frise cookies with you.
Easy Bichon Frise cookies
Now I need to say that these are cookies for humans to eat, I’ll share our recipe for cookies for pups another day!
I purchased our Bichon Frise cookie cutter from Etsy, it’s 3D printed and really good quality.
I used my favourite gingerbread recipe to make these Bichon Frise cookies. It makes a batch of 24 cookies and never fails. I split the dough into two and put it to chill in the fridge for 15 minutes before rolling it out.
You can see that the Bichon Frise cookie cutter has a lot of detail and the cookies are instantly recognisable as a sweet and stubborn Bichon.
We cut out so many cookies and baked them in the oven for 15 minutes until they were lovely and golden.
They were perfectly delicious but you can decorate them too if you like an iced biscuit. We’ve made these a few times now and tried them with a simple royal icing. The children have also decorated them using icing pens and edible eyes, you probably don’t need any pictures of those as they looked a little like zombie Bichon Frise by the time they had finished!
