Last month I was looking for a new craft. A tiny bit bored with my current sewing projects, I wanted something different. I found The Teabreak Project, a monthly subscription box containing a project, teabag and snack to encourage you to sit down and make time for yourself. I have a lot of hobbies but it can be tricky to carve out time for myself during the week and this sounded made for me.
DIY woven storage basket
My first box arrived and was fun to open. Inside were scented candles, tea bags, individually portioned cakes, a QR code for a Spotify playlist, a badge and a craft. The crafts are all modern and beginner friendly.
The craft was a DIY woven storage basket in a pretty bright blue. I can safely say I have never made anything like this before so was happy to try. With my husband and son away for the weekend, and my teen glued to Netflix, I was able to sit down and take a closer look.
The woven storage basket contained pre-cut strips and wire, as well as a needle and thread. The instructions were easy to follow (with photos!) and the basket soon came together. There was some stitching involved to attach the strips together and to keep the wire in place.
I discovered that I need a quiet house in order to craft. The house is always full and noisy, and there’s usually washing to be done or the dishwasher to empty. It can be hard to prioritise yourself but the teabreak project definitely helped me to focus on myself for a few hours. I’ve ordered another project box to see if I can do the same next month!
The end product is already being used and my son didn’t realise it was homemade it looks so good. I’ve signed up for another month as I could get used to sitting down for a cup of tea and some crafting time.
