Starting my week with The Weekly Edit is a ritual I’ve kept for years. It’s my favourite Monday morning anchor—a chance to slow down, celebrate the ‘small wins,’ and gather the smiles from the week behind us. Part reflection and part record-keeping, it’s my way of documenting our family’s adventures before the next chapter begins.
The Weekly Edit {Week 36/2026}
After a long summer my kids went back to school. I’m not sure how happy they were about it, but I was glad for some routine after so long. It was the first time I didn’t need to buy any uniform in a while, but the cost of the new shoes, bags and stationery made up for it.
We’ve been working on the garden cabin over the summer. My teen has been using it for gaming for a few weeks now, although there are a few outstanding jobs to do. Over the weekend we built a step for the garden cabin, to make it a little easier to step into it (especially for the dog).
I love a trip to the theatre and I’m trying to share more of my reviews here. Recently the teens said they would like to come to the theatre too so I booked tickets for SIX at the Vaudeville Theatre in London. I’ve watched the show before (back in 2022!) and I love the soundtrack so thought it would be fun for us all to go together. It was just as good the second time and the teens enjoyed it too, although I think some of the jokes went over their heads.
I’m trying to be more adventurous with my food this year. There’s not much point living in London if we eat at the same places all the time. We walked past Itsu and the menu looked great so we popped in. I had a delicious katsu chicken curry rice bowl which filled me up for the rest of the day.
Last week we also took a trip to Moco Museum London. This is an independent modern and contemporary art museum presenting influential contemporary voices including Banksy, Warhol, Basquiat, Haring and more. We spent about an hour looking at all the art works and took lots of photos. Definitely a good place to take teens in London.
Six sounds like a graet show. I love a good musical, and this one seems so high energy!
I always like the routine of going back to school. It feels like there is a time and place for things and somehow school always feels like it is at the right time.

Oh hope you all had a fab time at six, I love that show. I’ve seen it in London and again when it toured near me. I’m still a few years away from school holidays but I think the first one is going to totally floor me trying to sort out six weeks! x

Sounds like a great start of the school year for your teen! Their supplies are always so expensive – I find that it’s more than I expected every year. It’s great you both enjoyed the musical.
Awww, we’re actually trying to be more adventurous with food too! We try to eat at a nice restaurant at least once a week. I’ve been realizing lately that now that I’m in my 40s, I really want to try more new things and just enjoy the experiences while I can. And of course, that includes trying new food too!
