You will need

Whole walnuts (in their shell)

Glue gun

Plate or similar

Ribbon to hang

I’ve wanted to craft my own walnut shell wreath for a while. I even had my walnuts ready last year to make one, but time ran away with me. So think year I’ve started December with a make – our own walnut shell wreath decoration.

I picked up a bag of walnuts from our local supermarket, gathered a glue gun and covered my work surface. I picked a plate of roughly the size wreath I wanted, and used this to count the number of walnut shells needed.

I added a good squeeze of hot glue to the end of each walnut shell and pressed the next one on to it. I used the plate as a guide to keep my shells gently curving around the plate.

I worked quickly as the glue set quickly, and I soon had a complete walnut shell wreath.

I left it to one side so the glue could harden before adding a bow to hang the wreath up.

  1. I have never made one of these or seen one either but I love it….esepcially with that adorable bow you have for yours. Totally my style!

  2. We were looking at a house once that had walnut trees and I could see crafts like this in my mind. We ended up getting something closer to town though, at that time.
